Hello.
I've been watching the rear bumper light install thread:
https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...lights-for-arb-rear-bumper-installation.7161/
My aim was a bit different from the post above:
1) The automatic trigger for reverse lights (spreader)
2) The automatic trigger for the backlights to come on with parking/taillights (red halo)
But did NOT need:
3) The ability to manually fire the spreader lights using the pre-wired AUX buttons and pigtails supplied with the truck
SPV Specialty Performanc Parts was great with helping me know what I needed for a very easy plug 'n play install.
I bought -
1x - SPV Parts SHORT LENGTH REAR Harness w/ Taillight adapter - SPV Harness System (Works with MANY vehicles, See Details)24+ Toyota Tacoma / Standard included add on connectors (for lights with bare wires) AND
2x - SPV Parts Harness 3 Pole WP Add On Female Connector Adapter (Single) - SPV Harness System (Add to lights without connectors)
1x - Rigid Lights themselves (did not need/use the Rigid harness, only needed the SPV parts and the Rigid Lights) - i had purchased this from Rigid already
Install was simple.
Did have to splice/crimp Rigid Light wiring to SPV 3-pole adapter - was simple (need a crimper and a heat source).
Absolute hardest part was screwing in the light to the bumper mounts on the passenger side... so little space for hands/tools... even after temporarily disconnecting the sensor (small tab on bottom and on top to get this off) on that side that blocks access to one of the screws.
Drivers side was much easier.
No hints/tips/tricks exactly - except patience.
Once the lights were attached to the bumpers, the rest was very easy, plug and play and routing the wires with zipties holding them in place.
The photos/description in the thread sited above is useful to review.
Thanks to SPV and to this forum and the author of the thread above!
