Seat belt chime alarming on an empty seat

Had a passenger in the passenger back window seat. Seat belt on. Shortly after leaving a parking lot, the truck went full red alert alarm mode with the damn seatbelt chime -- for the middle back seat.

Problem:
Nobody was in the middle seat. Nobody was *on* the middle seat. Nobody was in the back row except the one smallish passenger. We did get it to stop by buckling the middle seat despite nobody being there, and immediately disabled all the worthless seatbelt chimes with Carista when home.

What's with these seatbelt chimes? They make driving unsafe with their false alerts and horrible beeping.

In pursuing it with detail, even with nothing in the middle a passenger on right side triggers it. For now I'm keeping the middle clipped. It will be #2 on the list I hope doesn't grow when I have first oil change done.
