Looking for suggestions. I read the post regarding Dongar’s new Pro model.

https://www.tacoma4g.com/forum/thre...de-dash-cam-adapter-development-updates.7221/

It provides an additional 4 hours of power to the camera when parking. However, it raises some questions…

My reason for the cameras is for accident and theft insurance. I’d like side facing cameras, to capture activity on the right and left.

Because the windows are tinted, I believe it may be better to have exterior cameras. Maybe motorcycle cameras would be an option.

I would prefer a single unit DVR to capture 4 camera angles and auto save for collision or alarm. When parked, motion sensor capturing would be a requirement.

I don’t really see a need for interior cameras, as it would be an unnecessary battery drain.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure I have ever seen a 4 channel system and I recently researched cycle video systems as well. The angles are pretty wide on most cameras. Maybe two systems running separately is your best answer.
I installed a 2 channel Red Tiger system in my Gen 4. Easy setup solid unit so far. With its hardwire power supply kit (extra) set to the most conservative "off" at 12.4volts it runs about 4 hrs after I shut off the truck.
More info and full install notes here and I attached a sample video when I hit a vulture at speed. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rG3N6yxoAqSd75GaFIxuu5eBeQjhDzWp8uOzWpIXs0M/edit?usp=sharing

Vantrue has a 4-channel unit, the Nexus 5 (presumably the version before you get the full Roy Batty Nexus 6 Model from Blade Runner that would address all your security concerns 😁) However, the two extra channels are built into the front and rear cameras so the best you're going to get is seeing someone break the side windows and maybe see someone outside depending on lighting and your tint level. Maybe someone knows of something more flexible off the shelf but it seems a pretty niche requirement.

The alternative is probably having to build something yourself using a Raspberry Pi (or similar) +linux and/or security surveillance software and then figure out a source of small cameras you can mount externally and how to connect them into the PI. Probably too much work even if you're tech minded but such a system could also provide off-road cameras, which might make it worth it if you're going off-road with your truck and don't already have the cameras as part of the Premium Package.

You could probably find how-to's for this type of solution online done by people doing it for home security applications, like this for example https://github.com/motioneye-project/motioneyeos/wiki/Usage-Scenarios

Sorry can be more helpful.
