A few months back I installed a 12v outlet in my truck bed and a low voltage cutoff by my battery to prevent from draining it too low. I initially set this to 13v thinking this would be enough to start, but I found out a couple weeks ago after accidentally leaving a portable power supply plugged in over night that there was not enough juice left to start the engine in the morning. The battery only reads at about 15.2 volts when the car is off so I was kind of surprised by this. The problem was compounded when I went to use my shamazon lithium ion charger to jump the car and the truck drained the entire thing without turning over once. Thankfully a passing driver pulled over and let me use his battery to jump from my driveway.
Does anyone know the minimum voltage needs for starting the non-hybrid 2.4 That I should set my low voltage cutoff to?
And do you have any recommendations for affordable portable jump starters that will actually let the Tacoma start with its absurd number of electrical needs? Really don't want to make this mistake again off grid.
