Tailgate Malfunctions

I have a 2024 Tacoma Limited with 20,000 miles on it that I bought last summer. For the past several months my tailgate would not open when any of the switches were pressed. The only way to get the tailgate open was to pull on it at a specific moment while the tailgate locking mechanism was operating. I took the truck to the dealer yesterday assuming the problem would be a warranty issue. Wrong! The dealer said the tailgate locking mechanism had too much dust, dirt and debris in it and it had to be cleaned and lubricated. I also had a problem with the "tilt" mechanism for the sunroof. It made a grinding noise when activated. I again thought this would be a warranty issue. Wrong again! The dealer says they also found too much dust, dirt and debris in it. I hardly ever drive on dirt roads, most of the mileage is interstate travel. So $338.85 later both problems were corrected. Toyota, I got a flash for you, it's a damn truck! Quit putting all these electronic crap features in the trucks and leave them to the cars. Sorry for the rant but it's a damn TRUCK!
