Took a couple pictures of my buddy and mine's trucks at work. That Supersonic Red looks so good! He also put some 275/70R17 KO3s on his Prerunner which make it look even better with the all black factory wheels. I'm still waiting for delivery of the OEM Trailhunter wheels I ordered to slap on my truck with some new tires (haven't decided yet, but I'm definitely leaning towards the Falken AT4Ws, but KO3s look really good with the white lettering).

Prerunner looking good. How does your buddy like it?
Heā€™s immensely proud of the fact that heā€™s one of the very few on the East coast to have one šŸ˜‚. Heā€™s had it for about a month now. It is super sharp looking, and it kinda matches his original gen 1 prerunner. That old truck was on its last legs and they only gave him $500 for the trade! He bought the new one, cash, and they definitely ripped him off on the price too (you know, cause itā€™s so rare and all šŸ™„), but he loves it. I was a little disappointed to find out it didnā€™t come with the Bilstein suspension from the TRD off roadā€¦ I thought that was the main appeal of the prerunner šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø, and I give him crap for not getting a stick shift, but I donā€™t even think you can configure them with one which seems really dumb to me. It definitely sits a bit higher than mine as it is though. I chalk that up to the heavier full cab. The stock all black wheels with the KO3s look awesome for sure!

Weā€™re finally starting to see more and more of the new Tacomas driving around here, but overall, theyā€™re still kind of a rare sight in Baltimore, so I think itā€™s kinda funny that we each have one, and they look awesome parked next to each other like that. Itā€™s our own little club lol. Weā€™ve got a couple guys with gen 2 & 3 tacos on the job too. One of these days Iā€™ll get em all lined up.

I heard the pre-runners had a bit of a front lift which sounds like you can confirm. My Off Road has about 2ā€ of rake, if the pre-runner has less rake that would confirm.

I can confirm. Itā€™s not much, but it definitely sits atleast 1/2ā€ or so higher than mine in the front.

If they would put a 4wd drivetrain in the PreRunner, I would write the check tomorrow.

2024 is almost over and no Xtracabs in Alaska which seems odd considering how popular the Access cabs have always been up here.

No PreRunners. No SR5s. No SRs. Zip. šŸ˜”

(My dealer does have 139 4-door Tacos. Most with a 5ā€™ bed which is a non starter for me)

I donā€™t know the full history of Tacoma prerunners, but I thought they were always 2wd to mimic the Baja racing trophy trucks. I could definitely be wrong, but you could go with a trd off road or an SR5 with a long bed to get 4wd, unless the full sized cab is a dealbreaker for you? His pre runner is the only xtracab Iā€™ve seen, anywhere. I have seen a few SR5s and SRs, but not too often. He told me thereā€™s only been six PreRunners east of the Mississippi so far (according to the dealerships around here). He was looking for months until one finally popped up nearby. I definitely like the look of the shorter cab with the long bed, but I also love being able to haul my dogs around in the back seats. Seems very odd that they arenā€™t delivering more xtracab variantsā€¦ especially this late in the year. Hopefully they start letting customers configure these trucks the way they want them! I feel like I got lucky getting one almost exactly how I wouldā€™ve ordered it, thatā€™s for sure.

PreRunner is wildly impractical for my lifestyle, but man are they a cool truck. Great looking, especially with the big tires.

Agreed. Heā€™s a cat person, so no need to worry about hauling animals around šŸ¤£. They added a lot of functionality and storage to the back of the seats and thereā€™s molle panels to hang stuff on too, but yeah, itā€™s not as practical as having 4 doors. The stock prerunner tires are the same as the trd off roadā€™s, so the KO3s he has are only marginally bigger. They definitely look bigger and more aggressive for sure. He says theyā€™re a super nice ride too.

Also wanted to add, we both have ceramic tint if youā€™re wondering why the windows look so dark. I did 20% on the side windows and 35% on the windshield (the white truck). He did 20% sides and 50% windshield. The tint makes a huge difference in the looks tooā€¦ and definitely not legal, but well worth the low risk of getting pulled over for it I think lol.

I agree. It wouldn't be a prerunner with 4wd, but it would be a very cool truck. I would love to see an XtraCab Pro personally, which I also think would be a very cool truck.

I have never seen a PreRunner out in the wild and I love the comparison @Kdbradley85. Your buddy's red rig is one beautiful truck.

The Prerunner looks great. The Xtracab doesnā€™t have swing out suicide rear doors, correct?

Correct. The front seats fold down flat to give access to the storage area.
