Hey Rasky, may I ask where your shop is located? Any special deals for a fellow 24 Taco holder?
I'm in the Minneapolis area. Sorry, no discounts and as of Jan 1st I'm not taking on any new clientele either. Detailing/PPF is just a side gig for me now and my existing clientele keeps me plenty busy. ;)

Rasky, that’s an excellent post about PPF. I’ll add that in my personal (non-professional) experience it’s unnecessary to do an entire vehicle if the goal is basic rock, chip and swirl protection.

We’ve protected our last three P-cars with Xpel PPF on the front (they don’t have traditional grilles, just various actively slatted openings for air intakes); hood; fenders; A-pillars; side mirrors; and front edge of roof back to moonroof. Depending on the vehicle the cost was US $1,500 to $3,000. The oldest of the bunch is nearly four years. The film is still firmly attached, clear, and looks totally new. It’s worth it in our case, as a lot of driving is up and down rock-strewn interstate highways.

And I agree that PPF will not protect against sharp branches, etc. dragged across a panel when offroading. The film will tear, and will not self-heal. It’s just not designed for that kind of abuse.

And finally, applying that film requires serious skill. Our dealer subs out the work, then covers it with their own warranty. But on one of the cars the sub did a terrible job, with bubbles and peels and poorly fitted joints. The dealer apologized and sent the car to a new sub after firing that one (really). Those guys peeled off all the film and re-applied everything, and did a masterful job of it. So ask for references and visually inspect a few recent jobs before committing.

Yeah, for most people the full wrap is overkill. If I wasn't able to install it myself I probably wouldn't be willing to pay for it, Just the main impact areas are key. That being said, I LOVE having my truck and the wife's vehicle fully wrapped and coated! It makes washing and caring for the car so much easier and I don't have to worry as much about door dings and other minor parking lot damage. Best part is that I'm 3yrs in on my Ram and it still looks better than new. No more annual polishing to remove light swirls. :)

Agreed! Looks fantastic. I posted elsewhere as a general rule I don’t like full-size trucks. Yours is the exception.
