I'll be watching this. I am ignorant on how to do that so would like to see a nice easy explanation

I’ve always just cut a small slit in the rubber grommet around the base of the steering wheel column. Get some mechanics wire and tape the wire you need to fish through there to it and push it through.

Anything out there for a inexperienced guy on hooking up the wiring?

Depends on the size of the wire, but you could just use the hole in the firewall that is already there.
Haven't checked mine, but some vehicles will have holes already cut out that are just blocked and you can use those.
Otherwise you can drill a hole and use a grommet.
