Removed Factory TRD bedside decal & replaced with custom decal sticker

Did not like the factory bedside decal so I decided to remove it. It was super tedious to get off. Idk if this due to the sticker quality or user error. I did use a heat gun and everything. There was an extra layer of paper between the vinyl sticker and the adhesive part. Pictures of the process are shown. It looks clean without anything but I decided to go on Etsy and make my own.

I did the same thing last weekend. Drivers side took me 2+ hours. Thought it would be easy on a 90 deg. day in the sun. Not. Ended up with quite a few scratches in the clear coat (from finger nails and a plastic scraper) that I haven't been able to get out yet. I am too nervous that I'm going to make it worse if I resort to 3000 grit sandpaper. Bought an eraser wheel to do the passenger size. 10 minutes, no issues. Either way, looks much better.

Man I wish I woulda thought of that! Yah same here I used the chemical guys paint corrector and buffed out mostly. Fingers are all blistered up from taking it off

. Worth it in my opinion I think it looks sweet.

Wow, they obviously have changed up the vinyl. When I removed the sticker on my Tundra a few years back it was just one steady pull to get it off. A minute of two at most.

And the paint is so soft. I placed a plastic moulding on the hood. It slipped just a bit dug deep into the paint. Terrible !

It's the 1st thing I did when I got home from the dealership, took 10 mins and simply peeled off. Same with the 4x4 on the tailgate, came right off

I got mine off with no scratches to the clear coat. Basically just kept applying goo gone and rubbing it with fingers. Later I put on some mechanics gloves to continue the rubbing as I did develope some blisters on my fingers but it got the job done eventually. Took between 2-3 hours for both sides. I have not replaced them with anything yet and I'm not entirely sure that I'm going to.

I removed mine the first day. Literally 5 minutes for both. The sticker came off in one piece. The little bit of residue left behind rubbed off with my thumb and I did not even need goo gone.

I guess I got lucky. TRD Sport decal off Ice Cap color for reference.
