Trailhunter Wheels (265/70R18) installed on Stock 2024 TRD Off-Road

I fell in love with this color/rim combo on the debut of the 2024 Tacoma unveiling but just couldn't bring myself to pay the excessive pricetag on the limited trailhunter trim. Last weekend I was able to score a set of these and they fit on with stock suspension, no modifications needed.

Since there doesn't seem to be any correct information that I've been able to find online regarding the Wheel, the Wheel is an 18 x 8.5 with a 25 offset.

Hey. Just wanted to double check that you haven't experienced any wheel rub in the well with the larger tire and stock TRD Off-road build? My tire guy was recommending a 265/65 18 tire, but I'd rather go with the 265/70 18 if that's working for you.. (any photos?)

thanks,

Jon

Same question here. Just bought a set of these wheels and the center caps. Also, does anyone know if the tpms can be swapped into the new wheels from my original ones? That’d probably save me a bit more cash too!

@jmasters Zero problems at all! I've got about 1400 miles on them so far, some highway and also some primitive dirt roads as well! I've had zero rubbing. What type of pictures are you looking for? The wheel in full articulation?

@Kdbradley85 I am happy to report zero problems at all. Yes, you should be able to transfer your TPMS sensors into the new tires. Congrats! I love these rims.

Were they in stock when you ordered? I tried to order trd pro wheels from them and they cancelled the order said the pro wheels were on back order. How long ago did you order and how long did it take to get them? sorry for all the questions, I have tires and no wheels right now and I really don’t like the stock trd or wheels
Sorry, I bought from a private seller.

@drabon74 I “bought” them on Sparks Parts. I put that in quotes because I’ve paid for them but have no clue when I’ll actually receive them. I ordered them well over a month ago. Supposedly, they have all but one wheel, and they’ve told me they should be getting the wheel from Toyota any day now and they’ll ship as soon as it arrives. In the meantime, I’ve called just about every dealer in the country looking for them and responses have ranged from they’re sold out, they’re not available yet, to them being on national back order and may not be available for months. Best bet is to just order a set and wait patiently or look for a Trailhunter owner who’s selling theirs. Or just buy some aftermarket wheels instead lol. I really like the look of these though, and I’m willing to wait a while longer.

@drabon74 just a quick update. So I received my wheels on Wednesday from Sparksparts. They look awesome! The only issue was that they shipped me two Trailhunter wheels and two 18” hybrid OR wheels 🤬. It’s been quite the adventure trying to buy these things. Hey, at least I have two of them. Oh, and I also got the four center wheel caps that match. Maybe I’ll have a full set in another month or two! I’m gonna go for KO3s in 275/70R18 (already bought, but may have to cancel), and I can’t wait to see these things on my truck. Patience is key. Deep breaths lol

Thanks @Kdbradley85 for pioneering the retail purchase of these.

@Everbeers mpg difference is negligible with stock TRD pro/trail hunter tires. I have about 3000 miles on them now and don't notice a difference from the first 7000.

My only gripe and word of warning is the added tire poke and more aggressive tread has done a real number on my back panel in front of my rear wheels and behind my rear doors... 40 miles of dirt roads last weekend and the damage is real. Need to come up with a solution before I repair the damage, otherwise it will just keep happening.

@SonoranSurvivalist Thanks for the heads up , got my TRD pro wheels installed today. Never hit dirt roads… just sand dunes and crappy Michigan weather.

@SonoranSurvivalist I was considering mud flaps to help mitigate some of the rock chip damage, but I also have some rock sliders which have done pretty well so far at keeping the rear fenders protected. I’m hoping the added poke isn’t too much, but rough country and NYTOP both make some wider fender flares if they’re sticking out too far. The stock OR tires are really bad at picking up gravel, so switching to a more aggressive tire like the KO3s should help too I think (my theory is the rocks will be ejected easier at lower speeds since there’s larger gaps in the tread). It’s pretty crazy how hard these wheels are to find. You got very lucky my friend!

@Everbeers those TRD Pro wheels look awesome on your truck! Nicely done đź‘Ź
