Some good points, and this was a question i had for my local dealer when i placed an order for 2025 two weeks ago, he said. David the price may change from 300 to 700 dollars, they are already prepared in a way. Also. If yo take few minutes today, google all the plants that toyota hasin the united states. , now add up all of the employees toyota has working for them , that are us citazens? Now add up the school trade programs toyota has linked to the local communities its in , ex kentucky, and indiana ? Toyota will take this on the chin and continue making vehicles, like sombody else suggestead above im sure this will be all carved out and worked before trump blows every auto manufacturer out of work……

A good discussion and a lot to think about for people considering a Tacoma. I'm glad to see that we really can talk like adults on the internet, even though I hesitated to start this discussion.

At this point it is all just speculation and it will be interesting to see where this goes. I don't think we will know one way or another for a while yet, but significant price increases could be on the way for our favorite trucks.

I don't understand what your point is? Nobody is suggesting that Toyota will stop making or selling vehicles in the US.

Nope - just wondering what this will do to the price of a new Tacoma. I already had one experience where a tariff on Canadian softwood was passed directly on to me. That might not be the case here but I am certainly not an expert on trade matters.

Toyota was smart enough to concentrate most of their American production in the US and no doubt now wishes that they had kept Tacoma production in Texas.

@Airborne I agree, but I also don't think they can absorb all of a 25% tariff, which would basically eliminate their profit, and Toyota is not a charity.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I don't have a stake in this personally, since I already have my 4th gen.

Moved up my purchase from spring 2025 to last week. Too much uncertainty after the election, even before the new 25% threat. I asked my dealer (biggest in WI) about possible tariffs, and got silence. Toyota isn’t moving production into the US based on a tariff threat. I agree, will be interesting to see how this plays out.

glad i got mine 2 days after the election , seen it coming & here the dealers were discounting 3k off . i thought never be another better time to pull the trigger before i get priced outta a Tacoma .
Ditto here- wonky or not, glad I grabbed mine prior to the next swearing in. Wouldn’t be surprised if the SR comes in at the same price as my TRD PRO.

They’d better launch the 2025 fast! :)
Yeah - and build and ship them before January 20th. lol

I did read a more detailed analysis about this today and it specifically said that this would massively disrupt the US auto market. Lots of products marketed and sold as made in North America come from Mexico. It also said that the tariff would apply to ALL products imported from Canada and Mexico.

Unless Toyota can find a way around this, those of us that already have 4th gens could be in a very select group.
