i asked the dealership about that and they said “that’s the best case scenario and nobody sees that”. So apparently it’s just a suggestion 😂
I’ve got 600 miles on my TRD Sport hybrid, driving like a dream and the power and response have been eye opening good. My MPG is consistently between 23-24, mix of city and highway in the mountains of Tennessee. Which in my estimation is pretty dang good, especially coming from a 19 TRD OR V6 - that thing was lucky to break 17 on a good day on the same routes.

I do miss a few of the OR features but my driving has shifted more towards what the sport is geared for and it’s got a ton of great features in its own right to more than make up for it.

If you’re getting that for mileage, I’m wondering if there is either something wrong with mine or if there’s a setting that’s either engaged or not engaged that is only giving me the 17-19 mph

Auto transmission shifts rough when cold start up. Other than that 2200 miles and no issues besides the low 17 mpg.
I am getting the same low mpg in my TH (1100 miles). Changed to Method 703 rims with Falken 285/70/r17 Wildpeak AT4W.. getting same MPG before tire change as after. (About 500 on each). Not quite the 22-24 as posted.. My 2008 4Runner (4L) got 22-24 mpg.

That’s odd. Try going out of ECO, because I found (at least for my driving) that it did little, if anything, to make it more efficient or fun to drive. Sport mode is fun, but generally impractical for most of my driving, but normal is my sweet spot.

I’m in the TRI, so if you are familiar with that region, you know it’s a mix of hills and flats. I drive a fairly straight shot to work on I26 with a couple a good grades but generally reasonably flat. Around town is a mixed bag, but I’m still consistently north of 20/21 in city. I did go with mid-grade fuel, might have made a difference but I wouldn’t think by much.

I’ll try Normal mode.. I live in Oak Ridge, so mix of flat and hills (unless I go over to Smokies). I am surprised by the mileage.. Maybe 20 instead of 22-24 but not 15-17.. I might have gone with a Tundra if I had known that..
Usually get regular, but will try mid grade.. Gas seems to be cheaper up your way as I filled up in Erwin on Friday and it was 70 cents cheaper than around here.. But didn’t know if that was effect of Helene. Was surprised at i26 open 4 lane except that one bridge area. Was up there doing search off I26 for the people from the plastics plant.. Really sad..

Bought a new 2024 TRD PRO Taco in September 2024. Coming from a 2007 Taco Pre-Runner, this was a night and day upgrade considering my last truck didn’t have a backup camera. The suspension, engine, comfort, technology and ease of use with the new Tacoma makes this truck very easy to like. However, I do have concerns with the TSB for Transmissions as my VIN # does fall within the range. My front passenger ISO Dynamic seat also squeaks. Besides these issues, I’m still very satisfied with my TRD PRO and genuinely enjoy driving this truck on a daily basis.

Nah. That's about what I get too. Was 20, now 19 with a Softopper.

Hello everybody

For those who own a 2024 Tacoma how has it ran so far ?
Love my TRD Sport. I have 21,000 miles and have zero issues. It's fun to drive and wants to go! I realize this build has reveived lots of ctitism due to the 4 cylinder engine. This thing has plenty of power and have zero regrets so far.

2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road
My TRD OR was built in August 2024 and I bought it in late September. It has about 4,500 miles on it now after 3 months 😳. It runs great, and it’s fun to drive on/off road. It came with the TRD Upgrade package & the 14” infotainment display. There are a few points to note:

  1. There’s a “metallic” sound that occurs on and off, mostly when the engine is warmed up, and I hear it mostly at low speeds or while stopped. If I listen for it I can hear it sometimes on the road. I inquired with the dealership service team, I was able to reproduce it for them, and they said “it’s normal”. The explanation was that the fuel injection has a “cleaning” function that turns on and off at its discretion, and he was confident that’s what the sound was. I intend to get a second opinion at another dealership as I find the sound troubling. It’s likely to trigger a “what’s wrong with your truck” if anyone else hears it.
  2. I have the 8AT transmission and overall it’s been fine (if I read the bulletin correctly I’m not within the TSB range). One thing I have noticed is that when I slow to a stop from driving speed, and then quickly start off again (like a stop sign), there can be a minor ”lurch”. It’s as if when it downshifts at the stop, it only downshifts to 2nd gear, and then has to downshift again to 1st before starting off. I don’t know if that’s actually what’s happening, but it would explain the symptoms. Also, when I shift to drive after backing out of my driveway, there’s a couple second lag, and a bit of a clunk. The dealership also said this is “normal”, and my 2016 Sierra did the same thing, so my workaround is to just pause before accelerating after making that shift (so the clunk won’t be too hard).
  3. When driving in snow, the front radar sensor gets blocked (not surprisingly). The problem, though, is the logic in the dashboard messaging is flawed. Instead of displaying a warning that can be dismissed, it continuously alternates between 2 warnings messages. If you dismiss one, it pauses for a few seconds, and then resumes the repeated warnings. This is distracting, and as such, a borderline safety concern. This seems like a software bug.
  4. I think that’s it. Overall it‘s doing well. :cool:
