Hello guys!

Great community here!

Looking into buying a TRD Pro but for inventory reasons am not able to test drive one.

Issue is a family member has a stock 2020 Tacoma Sport with the OEM blue shocks 4x2 and the truck rides very very stiff especially on small imperfections on the road that rattle the whole interior.

Anyone happens to know if this new gen Tacoma in TRD Pro trim is much softer and has less rattles?

Thanks!

I have my shocks set at the softest level and they’re perfect. I come from a Gen 3 OR with the stock bilsteins. It’s rides a lot better than my OR.

My Pro suspension is set to the middle setting and the ride suits me really well. It is firm and controlled but I never find it to be harsh at all. I have one softer setting to try, like @Wighty is using, but it is smooth enough that I haven't gotten around to it yet.

It rides and handles like a luxury performance car compared to the Off-Road Tundra I owned before getting my TRD Pro. It is the most comfortable and best handling pickup I have ever driven!

I have my shocks all on the softest setting but I wish I could get the rear softer, I live in a neighbourhood with speed humps and my trd sport and subaru outback used to go over them like butter at 50-60kmh

The interior of my car is totally quiet, but not all Pros are. Some people have rattles from the seats, with no fix from Toyota yet. But everything is tight and buttoned down inside my truck.

25' Pro with 600 miles 50/50 highway and chip seal rough gravel type roads. No interior or exterior rattle. I think the ride is great. I run the county roads at 50 and in Indiana they are pretty rough with swales, dips, potholes, uneven patch jobs etc. I have it at whatever setting it left the factory at. Im.coming from an F350 Limited diesel with Fox 2.0 and Duratracs 10 ply tires so I wasn't driving to smoothest riding truck to begin with. Other vehicles are F550, 03 tacoma and 22 Sienna for comparison. I'm pretty happy with the Pro suspension and truck. The low beams are my only complaint I don't think they shine forward enough. Not sure if that's just the Pro / TH upgraded lighting or if it applies to all 4th gen

Mines been dead quiet for the most part, I have the fake engine noise turned off and the stock exhaust CAN drone at times but it’s not often, I had a couple of clunks from the front end and a squeak those were only one day after a ton of slushy snow and haven’t heard them since, I’m about to hit 2k km today

I've driven sedans all my life, the Pro is the first truck I've ever owned, so I was anticipating some getting used to a bumpier ride. Turns out, I've not had to "get used to" anything at all, as the suspension was very comfortable.

Recently, I took it out to Westcott Designs in Phoenix to have their preload collar lift installed to give me just a bit more lift beyond what the Pro already comes with (it added 1.75" to the front and 0.75" to the rear), I also replaced the Goodyears with some 35" Nitto Ridge Grapplers (I kept the factory TRD Pro wheels, as I think Toyota did a good job with the design and appreciated they come factory with a +20 offset for just a perfect amount of "poke" for my preference). Initially I was apprehensive, thinking it was going to stiffen the suspension more than I'd like and perhaps sacrifice the 3-stage Fox dampening functionality. I spoke with Jeff Westcott and his techs and they assured me the functionality would remain and the ride quality may even feel improved as it would have less body roll while turning and less "nose dive" while braking. To my surprise, the ride quality does in fact feel much better now. I have the setting on the Fox QS3s set to "1" (the softest setting, but that's where I had it set prior to the lift and tires), and compared to the factory set up and Goodyear Wranglers that come stock, it's a pretty significant difference. It could be the Nittos just ride better, the preload collar actually improves the suspension stability or a combination of both, overall I'm really happy with the set up.

This sounds exactly like what I want to do. I love the trd pro stock wheels but I want a beefier tire and bigger tire. do you think you could of done the tire upgrade with out the suspension lift?

Without a lift you can probably squeeze in the equivalent of 34" tires with perhaps a width of 11.5", otherwise 35/12.50 will likely rub with the wheels turned at full lock.

Upgrading to larger tires completely changed the look. The TRD Pro already has a nice aggressive look/stance with the stock wheels, however with 35" shoes... it's a beast.

gotchya. I’m gonna probably do what you did then. Wescott lift then the 35’s. Can you post any pics of your set up? I’d love to see. Also any rubbing at full compression or extension? (For off roading purposes)

I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

I haven't taken it out off-roading since the set up, as I had it done just a few weeks ago. However, Jeff Westcott explained that his preload collar is unlike a traditional spacer, in that you retain your factory suspension's geometry and it won't bottom out as easily as you would with a spacer lift.

The headlights can be adjusted. Have you checked that?

THANK YOU! I was hoping that there was an adjustment to sngle them up more. I'll try this tonight. Ford super duty factory LED are the best lights that I've ever used so I've been spoiled
