USMC affiliation? I'm a retired 2112...I just looked at everything in our region and there are holds on trucks from both plants. There are also many that have come off hold from both plants. At first, it looked like the San Diego ones were coming off quicker but it doesn't look that way now.
And BTW... really like the username. We have things in common.
Such a small world! M118LR is the latest version of that round (you already knew that), but I was in the shop when a motivated Lake City engineer (Remington ran the plant at that time...) took it upon himself to see what the USMC was bitching about with the "brown box" M118 Special Ball round. He came to Quantico and a couple of snipers from the school house brought out the M40A1s and several boxes of "brown box" and older "white" box M118 ammo. The white box stuff was manufactured when Winchester ran the plant, and was the same ammo that our Unertl 10x elevation turret was calibrated to (ballistic drop compensator, if you will). Regardless, out of his visit myself, our shop OIC and a couple of others went to Lake City to see him and get the run down on how that cartridge was currently being manufactured and what they were going to do to resolve the issues. Out of that was born the M118 "Long Range" which is what is in use today. No but my license plate is 308 M118. I do a fair amount of shooting and recently took up long range challenges. Several years ago I had a 1911 build by a 2112 at Quantico under the "hobby lobby" program. It is a MEUSOC copy.
Thank you Steve, that is quite odd it is going by ship to Northern California, could you possibly see its final destination by that list? it should be Oakland, CA. I sent you some coffee for the help.Built and not on hold. Currently sitting at the West Coast Mexican port, waiting for a boat ride North.
