Automatic tailgate

Has anybody taken apart the tailgate to see if there's a way to just run it manually?

Why?

Almost certain you can disable it in settings.

They didnt make the tailgate useless if it breaks

About 3 button presses in settings and your auto tailgate becomes manual.

Thanks for that! I'm assuming it reverts to the soft down feature? I'm wondering if it could be just a normal old school tailgate

That’s the one feature I wish Toyota skipped. I saw a YouTube sales demo and it wouldn’t work because it appeared frozen. That could be an issue for a guy who lives in Alaska. 🫤

My second gen was great, I didn’t really enjoy the soft down on my 3rd gen and I just want a regular normal tailgate, I’m a welder so I’ll make it work for me somehow lol
