I live in Alaska and remote start is a great feature. My problem is my 4runner also has a manual transmission. Although Toyota does not offer it, there are aftermarket companies who sell remote starts for manual transmissions. It is sort of a hassle because you have to literally set it up every time you park the vehicle. But I guess I considered it worth it in the long haul.

That eliminates having to go out and start it, and then having it quit when you open the door.

The set up process involves putting the vehicle in neutral, putting on the parking brake, and then pushing a button on the fob.

After a while, you get used to it, but it does add about 20 or 30 seconds to the shut off procedure so your remote start will function with manual.

I had an aftermarket one installed in my '19 OR manual. Setting it up before exiting the vehicle was easy but it didn't have a push to start button, don't know if that added any extra steps. What I found most annoying is that if you unlocked the truck for any reason after setup, remote start would not work. You had to restart the vehicle and go through the steps all over again.

I just talked to the people who installed it. They said they are waiting on some sort of override for the computer system to become available before they can do the '24 Tacomas. Hopefully before this winterâť„
