I agree, I havenāt minded the small tank so much as I do get 500km in the city on a tank. Thatās about 310 miles. Of course by 450km itās telling me to refuel now.
Worst truck I ever owned for small tank was my 1998 S-15 Jimmy 4wd. It would be sucking fumes at 360 km of city driving (224...
Here I go to Canadian Tire for my wash supplies. I use a combination of Mothers wash, Chemical guys for interior wipes and tire cleaner. And either Meguiars or Mothers quick detail and spray wax. And a house brand grit guard bucket. Does a great job and reasonably priced, lots of times on...
Iāve had the occasional loud clunk shifting into reverse or into drive on my old trucks and cars before. Never thought anything of it. I think it is just the rear/ trans may be under pressure where it came to a halt as has been mentioned. Iāve had it more on hills. Iāve always assumed it is...
Fan boiās need to stop making excuses for Toyota. I knew what models came with a trailer brake controller. I also knew it was only attainable with a $4000 upgrade here. No option to just add the controller. Dealer also told me get one aftermarket.
Why you ask? Because in the entire pick up...
A bit overkill I think. Vehicles are made fragile on purpose now. We have bumpers that sustain $8000 damage in parking lot bumps, frames that cannot be repaired, $1300 headlights. All more money for manufacturers.
My 1981 Plymouth was a much tougher vehicle than anything made today. This...
This is a big FAIL on Toyotaās part. I feel they are not designed by truck people. They only get some input from truck owners.
I do give props to Toyota on offering a 6ā box option on a small truck. The knobs and physical controls inside and a great drivetrain.
I like this bumper, well done. Though not a step, it does give a toe hold when the tailgate is down. Seems more like a truck bumper.
Itās not so much an issue with the Tacoma as it is a small truck. On the Tundra itās a design fail for a pick up truck that when the tailgate is lowered there...
I totally get it Paul. I like the 5.3L GM, itās a good motor. Iād have no concerns putting miles on it.
As for the Tundra, I think they have worked out the engine issues for 2025 and even 2024 after a tough beginning.
To me the Tacoma is a small truck, and I like the parking ability etc...
I like GM trucks and youāre spot on, hwy mileage is great in them. I would have got a Sierra but my driving is mostly city right now and that is where it wonāt even get the advertised 15mpg. More like 13 mpg. I miss my old Silverado sometimes but really like the Tacoma.
A good mid point I...
Iām only about 1 mile off the estimated mpg. Estimated city is 19MPG for a 4x OR Double Cab 6ā box and Iām 17.82, 1.18 mph shy.
The comparable Tubdra is rated 17 mpg for the city. Maybe actual would be off by 1 mpg as well. Something to think about if I upgrade to a higher trim Tacoma or...
I drive mostly city in normal mode. I tried eco and mileage was not better, maybe a tad worse. Sport is cool but canāt be bothered to change it every time I start the truck. I have not measured sport mode mileage.
12,500 kms on truck. Avg 13.2 L /100 km or 17.82 mpg. This is measured by...
Tundra: better mileage than the last gen and the engine issues have been worked out. If you can wait for a ā26 it looks like it gets a mid cycle refresh. Maybe they fix the back bumper issue for access when tailgate down.
Tacoma: I carry 2-3 of my nieces and car seat in the back. Itās...
The issue is even if they do not offer a factory option, Toyota has not made it easy to add an aftermarket trailer brake controller like we used to on trucks before. Yet they advertise its tow capacity.
I didnāt upgrade $4000 to get a model with it as I didnāt really need the other options...
Iāve never had a truck without a trailer brake controller until now. This issue really grinds me. So much so that I may prematurely consider another truck in another year or so. Either upgrade trim level (though I like an Off Road with a 6ft box) or move to a Tundra or back to a Sierra.
Got you, I got mine before all the hub bub. Good to know those are local. Prob a bit less than the TRD one too. Dealer hadnāt even heard of them when I got mine, had to give him the part number. š
To each their own. I am the opposite, on 2nd gen/ 3rd gen (really a 2.5 gen) - I never liked the awkward seating position, the thirsty V6 that hunts for gears in a transmission that doesnāt know what gear to be in a lot of the time. Lots of rev and gas guzzling show for little go. I never...
