I’ve never had a truck without a trailer brake controller until now. This issue really grinds me. So much so that I may prematurely consider another truck in another year or so. Either upgrade trim level (though I like an Off Road with a 6ft box) or move to a Tundra or back to a Sierra.
Hell I was just now made aware of that by reading this. Now granted I haven't looked or own anything small enough to tow with this thing. I agree 100% that it should be a standard option on any pickup. He'll a Ford Maverick probably has one.

The issue is even if they do not offer a factory option, Toyota has not made it easy to add an aftermarket trailer brake controller like we used to on trucks before. Yet they advertise its tow capacity.
I didn’t upgrade $4000 to get a model with it as I didn’t really need the other options and thought I’d add an aftermarket one. As well, here the upgraded Off Road only has the 5’ box so I’d have to get a Sport.
It’s like Toyota is saying it is a truck, but only for doing some truck things. For a complete truck get something else. 😆

I love my 2024 tacoma, the only comment I will ever make on my truck is the storage kinda sucks but other then that I love this truck, I'm just disappointed that there no room for subs behind the back seat

The storage REALLY sucks. I usually keep a 12ga shotgun or rifle under my rear truck seats. The only thing that fits in mine is a SBR Ar15 behind the seat on passenger side. I don't like not having access to it from my exit side of vehicle. Hopefully never need it but I like to have it on me. I'm still back and forth on the retrax tonneau or a weathguard tool box due to lack of storage. I've not had a tool box on a truck in 20 yrs. They've always had enough storage for a few habd tools, paper towels, rifle, impact gun when traveling etc.

I guess that I assumed it was contained within in infotainment system. Hell it has a 7 pin on the back of it. I just assumed it had brake options. What are guys doing with campers?

I have a BC and doubt I'll ever use it. Go figure.
