I was hoping that they would add in a few of the glaring omissions like memory seats, but the longer it goes the more prone to agree with you I am. There won't be any changes. Other than a completely non-sensical price increase that is.
I would absolutely love a 4Runner or Land Cruiser truck. Get the larger rear seat, shorter wheel base, and a 4-ish foot bed. That would give me the capability I'm looking for but keep the advantages of an SUV. Do a fully enclosed interior but all for a pass through rear seat to extend the bed.
Dang it! You are right. I was getting it confused with the Tundra. I've been cross shopping so many vehicles that I have trouble keeping it straight. I don't actually have a Tacoma so maybe I should not be post here, but I get excited about this stuff.
I'll edit post to fix it.
This is not true. There is additional hardware for memory seats beyond normal power seats. You need sensors on every seat (or side mirror) movement to tell exactly where it is. That then feeds back into the controller for it to know when it has moved the seat/mirror to a specific location...
Turbo engines can have pretty massive fluctuations in MPG based on the driver and it is all dependent on the acceleration. If the turbo activates it will guzzle gas. I believe the Tacoma has a boost gauge that can be displayed. Put that on your instrument cluster. The more you limit it the...
If I could design my perfect Tacoma there are a lot of things I would change/add. I'll do 3 categories.
Easy/Likely - Realistic and Low Cost
Memory seats - Both the Ford and GM vehicles have this and it is very strange that they left it off of the higher trims. It is there on the 4Runner so...
Yep. My wife is a foot shorter than me. Plus she is a country girl and will without question be wanting to drive my truck frequently. We have memory seats on our family vehicle and they are a HUGE quality of life improvement. I regret not getting trim with them on my current vehicle and will not...
Lunar rock is a beautiful color. It sounds like it is a mistake, but I hope not. The color options on the Tacoma are pretty terrible to be honest. Sad if they drop Solar Octane as that was one of the few good ones.
I've looked at all the mid-size options and they are all lacking in something. The Tacoma lacks memory seats which is a deal breaker. Everything else I could deal with, but I don't expect them to add it despite pretty much every other manufacture having them in their top trims. Meanwhile...
Legally they can't deny you warranty coverage unless the thing you changed directly caused the problem. Yes, they can claim whatever they want, but trying to do that has consequences for them too.
I too have been pretty annoyed with the color options. The red seems too flashy and the blue is just off in a way I can't explain. I like the solar octane (especially as an OSU alumni), but that isn't available in the limited. I really hope the come out with another color option for the 2025...
Yep, that is a video from the press event I mentioned two months ago. They went there for one day, drove it and made a video. They didn't get a loaner to do a real review which is what I'm waiting on.
If you search youtube you will find over dozens of videos media/content creators put out from...
Note they say that this is a pre-production unit. However, they got an absolutely HORRIBLE 0-60 time on their test. Only 7.7 seconds compared to 7.8 on their standard motor. This just seems flat out wrong, but it kind of matches the statements coming out of people at the initial drive event...
It is WONDERFUL that the Tacoma has this feature. On my Subaru Ascent (and other vehicles with a turbo engine) they don't have an option to show the boost. Thus, you just have to be gentle with it and guess.
I do however wish there was an option to aggressively disable it. For instance only...
@SonoranSurvivalist and @datkins
Bad MPG is a very commonly reported problem with Turbos. If you are gentle with them they can definitely hit much better MPG numbers than their larger non-turbo equivalents. That is how they end up getting their EPA ratings, but once you trigger that turbo it...
