Does it? Could it just be another YouTube video making claims? So tired of YouTube experts on everything and nothing…
It is hard to believe Toyota would specify standard octane fuel in the Dynamic Force engine family if it would contribute to a shorter product lifespan. For a long time they've stated the goal to keep their long life reputation and put the engine family in product lines that high volume plus are known for and bought for long life.

The Tech has no idea how the ECU is tuned by Toyota engineers.

And it's already been proven the the ECU will adjust for 91/92 octane fuel (likely with timing advance, but could be more parameters too). It's a proven power increase.

And if Toyota ECU programming does it stock, it's perfectly healthy for the engine.

Most people don't drive hard enough to need more power. But there is a noticable difference in how the engine runs - My truck is smoother and less chuggy.

That's cool man. If it makes you happy is what matters. My truck is smooth as silk and doesn't chug at all. I will try a few fill ups of premium just to see if there's a noticeable difference that would be worth the extra price of the gas. Thanks for your feedback.

87 for me, truck is designed for it so I have no issue.
I bought this truck as cost per mile would be cheaper than running a 1 ton diesel with $1 more per gallon diesel fuel. After running ethanol free 93 in this 2.4 hybrid a few times it's hard not to grab that handle even at $1.50 gallon more. There is a significant fuel improvement and it seems to feel more responsive. Whether it amounts to much is another thing. I still put 87bin most of the time.

I do run ethanol free 93 octane in my scag turf tiger 40hp EFI , all my stihl stuff. They use so little and cost so much. I fo feel a big difference on a 90cc saw tuned to ethanol free 93 vs 87

Have to agree with Slappy, my truck runs fine on regular but better on 91. With a Costco 2 miles from home the few extra cents per gallon are worth it.
