2024 Tacoma Fuel Tank Size and room for swap / expansion (underbody undercarriage video & photos)

Here's are some pictures and video of the fuel tank on my 5" bed Off Road, doesn't appear to give much space to install a larger tank. The exhaust is routed closely to one end and the rear axle is close in the back. I am assuming that there may be more room on the long bed model.

With a muffler delete/exhaust re-route, there'd be some space for a sub-tank on the driver side.

Really disappointing that they decreased the size by 3 gallons when fuel economy only improved by 2 mpg.

Here are some more pictures I took today of the underside of the truck trying to show the limitations of adding a larger fuel tank. You can see that there's no additional room in the rear as the rear axle would be in the way and the front is limited by the exhaust. You would have to make some serious changes to the down pipe of the exhaust to reroute to make additional room to increase the length of the tank. All tank and other guards on the underside of the Off Road are a plastic material and would only protect those items from scratches and not dents or punctures. 95% of owners will probably never need to worry about this, aftermarket skid plates will most likely

be available soon for the other 5%.

Is there any body lean with a full tank of gas like there used to be on the 3rd gens? I noticed it seems like now the battery and fuel tank are both on the passenger side (whereas sounds like it used to be on drivers side).
