I’m wondering if there will be a class action lawsuit over the discrepancy in stated gas mileage vs actual gas mileage.

I’m only getting 18 mpg give or take and it’s in eco mode and I don’t drive aggressively

Ya know I hate to admit this but I'm noticing the same thing too. I saved my dealer MSRP decal and threw it in the glove box. It says 24 miles per gallon but with every roadtrip it's more like 17-18. Not cool. My 3rd gen and 2nd gen was spot on what Toyota advertised at 24mpg.

I was getting 19-21 in my 3rd gen before I added the lift and tires. It settled at about 14-16 MPG with 285/70/17 tires. My 4th Gen is averaging 15-16 mpg with 275/70/18's . The best I ever got was 17 in eco mode. However, I love the truck and the power. I'm not unhappy, just a little disappointed.

I will post again. Confused from the post. I have a test off.
Road. Currently 9500 miles. When I fill it up is says about 320 miles to empty on average.

My trip info is indicating 21 - 23 mpg all the time. So how are some saying there tank reads 212 miles or so when the tank is filled up??? How would I be getting 21-23 and others 17-18. Like the one guy responded, guess I'm a lucky one also..

Guess the post will go on and on about this. Only point i have like it or not, how can you complain about the tank size... If that was a big concerns, how about reading the specs before you purchased it.

Honestly, who gives a shit. It’s a truck. If you’re bent over gas expenses then buy a Prius. I’ve gotten 24 mpg out of mine and I’ve gotten 12 depending on the trip. People complaining on here about the mpgs on a truck are laughable. No one buys a Tacoma for the fuel economy.

The software makes calculations based upon what it is interpreting, those driving more city vs hwy, or the throttle discipline…etc.

Well put. I was trying to lesson my response. But yes who cares. Well if you don't like it. I'm out of this forum.

I agree!

I installed a level kit up front, now my TRD Sport sits nose up thus worse aerodynamics, plus I went with larger 265/70's on factory 18's that are much heavier KO2's and the taco went higher into the air with taller stance plus the nose up.

That is why I no longer bother with fuel economy; my truck is far from stock with just minor tweaks. I have a Corolla SE for fuel economy. Gets me 500-mile range and up to 46 mpg out of small 10-gallon tank.

Racing down in Baja we had to run fuel cells and remove the factory tanks even for stock class. I installed a 22-gallon fuel cell on my 86 Toyota. I even had one on my 85 2wd Toyota.

Image is my fuel cell on my 85 2wd sporting 32's. Ahhhh, good ol days.

Downey headers with block off plates, Downey air cleaner with 40mm Weber carb., Ahhh, good ol days. Strut frame mods that make any stock new taco look bad, Ahhh, good ol days. massive tac that makes digital one look childish, Ahhh, good ol days.

Note, 22RE head sticker, nope, it is an actual 20R head installed, larger intake and exhaust valves, more power. Ahhh, good ol days. Did I mention it was a rare 4-speed manual to boot? Ahhh, good ol days.

LOL, I am bored at this early hour.

The lower fuel MPG doesn't bother me that much (I also have 33'' AT Tires) but the small fuel tank sucks because you have to gas up more freqently.

This is my 7th pickup over the last 50 years. Anything approaching 20 mpg is just fine by me but the tank size is an issue. I have several 900 mile days planned in August and I don't want to spend half of them looking for fuel stops. I do plan to carry 10 gal in the bed as insurance.
