I fell in love with Tacomas when going to Africa-Tanzania, Nigeria, Congo, etc. These Tacos had hundreds of thousands of miles on them, no doors or bumpers, and no two wheels the same, but they still ran like champs. I’m on Taco #2 with my new Sport. I don’t off road beyond fire roads for photo expeditions and getting to the mountains to ski so I don’t need heavy duty off road stuff. However I found a few simple mods for us Sport guys. The first is a light skid plate that does not require the OR cross member. In my opinion, this meshes the best of all plates I looked at against the lower bumper cover. I would not rock slide with it, but it’s more than adequate for kicked up road debris. I found it on ebay, I don’t think they sell on a website. The second is a VLEDS license plate frame with enhanced backup, brake, and taillights. It’s truly plug and play, took 15 minutes to install, and five minutes of that was me searching my garage for longer license plate screws. Us Sport guys need to stick together, seems we are always outnumbered by the OR guys! BUT WE HAVE A BETTER HOOD, Lol.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. As a fellow TRD Sport owner, thank you for saying what has been on my brain but my mouth could not articulate for years. YES, we are the highway Taco kings. The Taco TRD Sport is the "sports car" of all pickup trucks ! The TRD Off-Road is so over-rated with so much overpriced extra crap you don't need and most will never use. And ya know what ? I love my fake hood scoop !

Texas nice trucks, that is a great way to explain the Sport, “the sports car of pickups.” 4WD when needed, room to take recycling to the dump, and always look good doing it! This is the part number on ebay, 395759516137, or just search for 2024 Toyota Tacoma skid plate. You can get it with red or black letters. Super easy install after pulling the air dam and felt skid. Don’t loose the air dam screws that attach to lower bumper cover, you will need them. It does come with the main attachment bolts. Quick install tip, use the box on the ground so it does not scratch while you slide it around to get it in place. I think we may have started a war with the OR folks 🫢. Kidding aside I run a few times a year between our homes in PA and Florida with my dog in the back seat-wife flies-and the Taco Sport gives us a great ride. Eighteen hours of classic rock with no Tayor Swift or Meghan Trainor.

Hey thanks for sharing even though I only drive a TRD PreRunner Extended Cab Pickup 2-Door. But I luv my PreRunner, my last one had a scoop so I will wait a few years then get a Sport hood. This part number also fits my truck and it looks to blend in nice.

Hey RokeHI, we buy what we need, I need the back seat for grandkids, but I think the shorter cab that you have is actually a better looking truck. Unfortunately my kids won't let the grandkids ride in the bed like we used to when I was a kid....and it was probably dumb to do it then too.

Looks gorgeous! I just bought the OEM skid plate for my TRD sport 2024...this is my off road, my trailer, my camper, and my sports car all in one 🤣🤣🤣 it has just what I need to off road...don't underestimate the usability of the 4 by 4 system!

Thank you for the recommendations.

Toyota Services department is doing the installation...and they said you don't need that...the skid might move a little bit but they showed me it in person and I think it's fine, it's minimal. I have to ask again exactly how they will install but the guy doing the installation who works there did the same to his sport 2024 and it's fine...

Interesting okay. I ask because I ordered the oem skid plus a NYTOP cross member to mount the front two bolts of the skid plate. Let me know how the fit is when you have it installed I’d love to see if that crossmember isn’t needed at all!

As soon as they install it I will upload photos, hopefully next week!

I purchased the NYTOP crossmember with plans to install the OEM or other heavy skid but ended up going with the one in my picture that will not fit with the crossmember. Not worth shipping but it’s free to anyone who wants to come get it and save yourself $50 plus shipping. I am in the Easton PA area until Dec 27 then in Venice FL. I can bring it down with me if anyone down there wants it.

Nice looking ride! The only mods that I've done so far is to install my "Ooogah" horn, remove the air dam, and now I've added the Toyota "heritage colors" emblem to the front grill.
