Odd question to anyone running the Diamondback HD or SE on their short bed. With the static center beam that supports the two panels, are you still able to put lumber angled down towards the cab(tailgate up), without the static beam being in the way?

Hope that makes sense.

I have the HD, but I havenā€™t tried putting any lumber in there yet. Iā€™ll be out of town this week, but I can check when I get back.
I believe you should be able to get at least one stack in there.

Thank you so much, and safe travels!

Looks like roughly 6.5ā€ above the first 2x4. In my case, I got one of the bins to fit under the front hatch, so I likely have less than the 6.5ā€ at the center.

Excellent! Thank you so much for doing that!

Excellent! Thank you so much for doing that! Looks like it also keeps the bed rails intact? If I may ask, which bin did you go with? That's actually one of the main selling points for me.

You need to remove the front bed rail as part of the install.
I went with the cross bin 8 because I didnā€™t want to lose all the vertical space. I havenā€™t used it for much yet, but bike gear.

Good to know and thanks for everything!

just to confirm, there is no way to fold a Diamond Back up against the rear window correct (like how a normal trifold can fold and you have access to almost the entire bed for a large item like a couch)?

this is the only thing holding me back from a diamondback

That is correct, however I talked myself off that concern with how easy it would be to remove the cover temporarily. It is only 4 bolts.

I have a Diamondback Switchback, which is a folder unlike the HD and SE models. Folded completely gains me access to about 2/3rds of the bed. You are correct, however, that it does not fold up against the glass like other products.

I keep getting told by others with the SE/HD that it doesn't matter about the loss of bed because if those rare instances come up, you strap said couch on top of the cover lol.

Also a good point someone made to me..with this style, you have an excellent excuse not to help others move with your truck. "Sorry, my tonneau cover doesn't let me use my bed like that." They don't have to know about that strap on top partšŸ˜‰
