I installed the C1R a few weeks back and have noticed the light flickers when my Trailhunter is idling. Diode Dynamics has an updated harness that lets you tap into the brake light power supply to give the hitch light contestant power. Just curious if anyone has done this? What wire do I tap in to? First time doing something like this, trying not to screw it up. DD has a 2-min video, but they gloss over this part.

I was under the impression that the kits were plug and play. You shouldn't need to tap into any individual conductors. Not sure if it connects to the trailer wiring or behind the tail lights, but you should just be removing a connector(s) and plugging in their t-tap(s.)

It is plug and play, but some people are getting this flickering, so they included a connection to get constant power…it’s optional, but the flickering is annoying so I was going to try to do it.

Not that I spend a lot of time behind my vehicle while it's idling, but not something I've noticed on my C1R . I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Crap. Kinda of messes with the whole point of me buying these. I don’t want to tap into anything in the back other than the plug and play part.

Ha, I agree. Only noticed it when I remote started a couple times and walked up to my truck from the rear.

When I remote start mine, it flashes like it does when you first apply the brakes to draw attention, then goes solid. And I have the Stage Series Reverse Light Kit double piggybacked to the back of the trailer plug. So I'm drawing more than a single hitch light. I was worried I might be drawing too much, but, knock on wood, I haven't blown anything.

If you want an actual usable reverse light source then just buy this.

The DD hitch mount mount is frankly junk. I returned mine and now have had this for about 6 months and it is awesome.

Is this what yours is doing? Or do you have a defective unit?
