Drive by Wire Throttle Explained by Jason Cammisa

In my Youtube exploration, I came across this video explaining Drive By Wire. I thought I understood it, but this gave me far more information and explains some of the unexpected readings I'm getting on ODB2 gauges. For example: in my 6M, same instant MPG in 5th vs 4th at a constant speed on flat ground. I always thought using a higher gear would decrease fuel usage, but it seems the ECU manages that in a different way now.

Interesting. Sometimes I bump my transmission over to manual shift mode and wonder why it's chosen that gear, thinking surely a higher gear would be more efficient.
