I installed the Garmin mini 2 dashcam with Dongar adapter and a Dongar 128 GB SD card about 6 months ago.

About a month ago, the camera started fast flashing 2 green lights (super annoying). Camera won't connect and the app says "the memory card has reached the end of it's useful lifespan and must be replaced." I tried reformatting the card several times and it works for a minute then disconnects and goes back to the same error.

Is this normal?

Maybe try Sandisk or Lexar cards? Been shooting digital for as long as digital cameras have been around and those 2 brands hold up better than others..

SD cards do wear with the number of reads and writes. Some are much better than others. Manufacturers used to state the MTBF (mean time between failures) as a number of read / writes but it is hard to find that information these days. In my experience with digital video players, Sandisk and Samsung tend to be better. You can also search for an SD rated for video recording duty. Samsung Pro Endurance is one.

Thanks for the advice. I just ordered a Sandisk Max Endurance 128gb card. We'll see how long it lasts, but reviews indicate at least a year.
