Hood Scoop or not to Scoop ?

No purpose to have a non functional scoop or vents. Even if it may look cool. That lip/pockets just ruins the aerodynamics. May not be much, but it does.

I love the look of the hood scoop on the 4th gen. It isn't functional, but then most vehicles today have all sorts of aero bits that are just for looks. How many rear diffusers or wings actually do anything useful?

The scoop on my 2nd gen wasn't functional but I always liked how it looked, just like I did on the non-functional hood scoops on my '68 GTO.

I would have loved to get a locker just to have it available. My old 4 banger Wrangler with open diffs took me so many places though. I’d like to think if you know how to drive off road, you can get most places without needing a locker. My rubicon, I used the lockers a handful of times and they were mostly big rock obstacles I wouldn’t even try in the Tacoma due to other factors like approach, break over, departure.

I think it looks cool, i have scoop on my 2014 4 runner, i have to be honest i dont even notice it anymore.
Getting ready for 25, taco i was thinking i wanted the sport with scoop, 18 wheels… but for my need the TRD Offroad fits my needs/ wants, and honestly for the same money….but i agree that scoop looks cool as shit for a year or two

Hood scoops are great....when they are real! My Jeeps even doubles as a snorkel and that is bad ass! The Tacoma stick on fake one doesn't look bad it's just you know, fake.

Not sure if the scoop was a factor but I drove a TRD Pro and the hood fluttered fairly bad. My TRD OR does not.

My Sport hood is pretty bad too. I’ve been thinking about taking off the scoop.

The angles on the hood with scoop seems to always reflect the sun right into the cab. I’d say no, and am looking to trade for a non scoop hood.
