The salesman was very professional and helpful but I didn't even get a smile out of the " managers" the way the dealer was setup in KY was odd. All the managers sat behind glass facing the sales floor. The sales floor had 8-12 tables where the sales team worked with customer and went back k in to haggle with managers. I showed up at 8:59 to pay for the truck and was gone by 10. Even making direct eye contact and a smile the guy didn't smile or wave. That's why I despise the premise of vehicle sales departments. Buying a piece of machinery, bulldozer or tractor is a whole different experience than a car dealer. Great deal on your end
YES. What is with the dealers and the 5 managers behind glass….. This is not helping them sell vehicles. I found that the staff where I bought mine was not very friendly and just a mill…. Salesman was friendly enough. Pushing units. Showed up to pay and none of the paperwork was ready. I bought none of their extra nonsense. They seemed like I should buy it because they say so. My response was, are you selling a poor quality vehicle…. Probably never return. I see this at all the dealers I visited when shopping. This might work with some people but you need to walk.

That's why I do all the shopping/ negotiating via text or email. I don't have to hear any bs or whatever my time. If they won't budge i move on. I only go in the dealer once I have a purchase agreement sebt to me to electronically sign.

Like others have stated, the wise way to go is to save your money and buy what you CAN afford, not what you want. Even if you decide to buy out the lease at the end of your lease term, you will likely be overpaying for something you've already thrown a substantial amount of money at. Leases are mostly designed for people who know they are going to want a new vehicle after three years, and who also don't mind making month car payments in perpetuity. If you're not sure you "really want" a Tacoma, three years is an awful long time to live with something you don't want or like. You're also limited on mileage, cannot really modify it or make it your own, and you're stuck dealing with that particular dealership as well since it is technically their vehicle (GOD I hope it's not Jerry's Toyota in White Marsh :cwl: ). It's super easy to get excited about a new vehicle and make a poor choice. I know first hand!

The lease is designed so that your payments are covering the depreciation of the value of the truck more so than what you would actually owe to pay it off. Granted, interest rates are still pretty high, but they are certainly more competitive now than they were a few years ago for financing, but any time you aren't buying a vehicle outright, you are paying to borrow that money. It doesn't really matter if you're leasing or financing. The banks and dealerships know what they're doing. The taxes, fees, and all that other garbage is also lumped into the lease to be slowly paid off over the 39 month term, so the overwhelming amount of that $700 monthly payment goes towards depreciation (they'll probably call it the "rental fee" on your lease agreement) and taxes/fees. After 39 months, you will have paid nearly $33K to lease (rent). Do you know what your cost to purchase would be at the end of 39 months? I'd be willing to bet it'll be a lot more than $26K, and more like $40K+ (just a guess), which means that leased vehicle turned from a $58K exciting new toy into a $73K+, 3 year old, used, midsized pickup that you don't own. Keep this final contract value in mind! That's where you can potentially "win" on a lease if you're super lucky. Let's say the fair market value of your now 3 y/o truck is $45K. Congratulations, they'll offer you that additional value over contract IF you decide to sign up for your next new leased vehicle. If you decide you don't want to lease OR buy out the current truck, they'll take it off your hands for a small "convenience fee" and boot you right out the door.

Best of luck friend!

I negotiated my silver taco with 6 different dealers as I drove to the dealer who gave me the best offer. Ultimately I knew I had the best deal on that truck when 5 dealers said they wouldn’t/wouldn’t compete with some telling me the deal was unheard of. That was 6k off 49k Msrp in August 24. Unit was in stock for 124 days.

On my current taco, I didn’t have to. I easily negotiated 7k off 55k in November on a unit that arrived the day prior.
