Hello guys,

Owner of a 2025 TRD Pro here, issue is that I feel like the transmission slips a lot, like when trying to accelerate mid/hard it will stay at around 2,000rpms while still accelerating and then lock up and go… feels almost like a CVT. Otherwise transmission is smooth.

Mind you am used to early lock-up torque converter automatics that don’t slip at all in modern cars, since Toyota is always 10-20 years behind in Tech maybe this is normal?

Let me know if your transmission does the same…

Thanks
JC

Well seems it is normal and tranny is old old tech, you can see the rev hang when accelerating intially on this video:

Mine does the same and it concerned me as well early on. To my knowledge, these torque converters are computer controlled and can basically lock/unlock at will depending on when the ECU deems it necessary. I just chalk this up to the TC lockup occurring.

I think if it were actual transmission slippage, the problem would be the opposite - revs would climb and acceleration would stop or slow down for a moment. As long as it is still accelerating, then everything is A-OK in my opinion. Send it! 🤘

Mine absolutely does this. It’s strange feeling, but I do believe it’s normal. Tow haul mode completely does away with it so it has to be electronic and not mechanical it seems to me. It does make it feel sloppy.

Normal due to the system combining power from the electric motor and gas motors
