Key not recognized

2024 trd sport Tacoma. Twice now the key was not recognized. Yesterday my wife was in the truck with it off and locked. When I tried to open the door, she clicked, I clicked, etc. it took 5 or six tries to open the door. One I got it the truck would not start. I had to hold the fob against the start button to restore. This happened once before. Both time I had a trailer hooked up. Has anyone seen this?

My TRD Offroad gets a little funky about the key fob not recognized at times when I am inside. It likes the fob near the cup holder area but if it's in my wifes purse on the passenger side it complains randomly... Never had an issue with entering the truck though.
