Hi everyone. I haven’t swapped wheels in 20 years. Limited Owners Who Changed your wheels from the factory chrome ones; How/where did you sell/get rid of the chrome takeofffs?

I sold mine on Facebook marketplace. Got a whopping $200 for them. It took 2 weeks to sell them. In other words nobody wants them.

I got lucky and sold them with the factory tires for $800 on Marketplace.

Chrome is like the plague these days—nobody wants it.

I've been brainstorming ways to deal with it, like using a vinyl wrap to break up the chrome or pulling the chrome cover off and having the base rim powder-coated.

But nothing will happen until spring at this point.

If you like the wheels but just don't want chrome, I found that plasti dip actually looks good and can last a long time if you take your time and follow the instructions. I did it on the chrome wheels on my Canyon and expected to have to replace it every year or so but it lasted four or five years before it needed replacing and even survived a tire change. People love to talk smack about it but if you do careful prep and take your time it can look good.

I left them at the wheel dealer. They aren't chrome wheels anyway. Those are basically just chrome hubcaps. There's another thread from someone who posted pics.
