He's very good. I've been watching him for a while now. He gives the the good and not so good. He also has his own Toyota specialist repair shop. He knows his stuff.

Lots of detail in the video, thanks for sharing. I'm trying to figure out the bit about the part time vs full time 4-wheel drive, specifically "4 High Free"/"4HF", and "4 High Lock"/"4HL". He starts going into this around 25:20 in the video.

I looked in the owner's manual, which I downloaded a month or two ago, and it makes no mention of any of this. I am admittedly no expert on 4-wheel drive, although I have watched the most excellent Jam Handy video from 1937 on differentials. So is this how the truck just works, and those 4HF 4HL terms explain inner workings that mere operators don't have to understand? Is it as simple as the diff lock? He makes it sound like it's doing this on its own, which is what confused me most.

The full time 4 wheel drive he's describing is only available in the iForce Max Limited Tacoma, the rest of the trucks are part time (must be manually shifted and not designed to be driven on dry pavement in 4H). It's confusing because it appears he is talking about the truck he's standing next to or all 2024 Tacomas.

Exactly, especially since he specifically calls out the vehicle he's standing next to is a pre-production SR5!

He does say, "You have 2 options," but the option that he's describing with such enthusiasm is only available in one specific model that isn't even on the market yet. It almost sounds as if he's saying the truck allows you to select between full time 4WD and part time, but he just wasn't super clear there.

Great review, as most are (except from the over-caffeinated knucklehead scotty kilmer), but this was done before TFL "broke" Blueberry. I think I'll wait for the '25, and if there's a price increase, hopefully interest rates will have come down by then and the difference in price will be moot.

Watched the video this morning. I thought it was a great review and I feel good about my new Tacoma! I also watched the TFL videos (MOAB & the one where they broke it) no way I would do those things in my baby! About the roughest she will see is hopping from the interstate to the access road if there is a wreck ahead & a big delay which unfortunately happens too often on I-35!

I know nothing about engines. Ask me to change the oil in my car, and I’ll YouTube it, and probably take 4 times the normal time, with 40 times the amount of cuss words as the average Joe. I can build you a nice custom PC, wire every electronic in your house, home entertainment center, home office, etc, not a problem.

However, THIS is the type of review where you learn some shit. I’ll gladly spend an hour learning a thing or two, and this guy engines.

Definitely worth a watch on the new Taco engine.
