Problem with power tailgate

Do anyone have issues with power tailgate. Mines started to not work when I try to open and now I noticed that on the dash warning light comes on telling me its off line. So its going offline more and more now. Also noticed that when it goes offline after locking vehicle, the alarm goes off by itself.

Check the electrical connections going to the tailgate. Maybe not fully seated.
The alarm going off, indicates that the tailgate is not latching.

I read where someone had to take it in, and they replaced the motor, and it works great now.

I’ve been driving a truck (the same one) for 40 years. I have yet to come up with a single reason why I would need a power tailgate. It seems like a gimmick waiting to break or freeze in winter.

Luckily, the trim I want to get doesn’t come with the power tailgate. That is if Toyota ever decides to actually make some SR5 Xtracabs.
