Same issue here on my OR with wider wheels. I added some extra PPF but didn’t go high enough. You’ll probably want to go all the way up to the gas cap. I think the only way to solve the issue is with running boards or wide sliders. My rocker area is getting rashed up too. Initially I really liked the factory “box liner” rocker guard but with the clear coat on it, it scratches really easily. Just installed running boards yesterday so we’ll see how it works after I touch everything up.
You are correct! Running boards and only certain wide ones are the only full protection. Rok Blok's are also a must. I now drive gravel roads without a care. Zero rock chips and I run dirt and gravel roads frequently. PPF won't cut it. The rocks will pit and road rash it to the point it will need replacing.

The side of my new TRD sport got covered in stuff just from driving over a small amount of dirt. So I immedietly ordered Rokblockz Rally mudflaps. I don't know how they will hold up or if they will work much yet, but the stock ones are trash.
