Yeah - last year the Pro sucked big time and the stuff he complained about is mostly the same on the TH. So what changed?

I bet the differential sticker is still upside down, which had his panties in bunch. What about that terrible power tailgate? What about the air cleaner and transfer case that he didn't like working on? So now that stuff no longer makes a Taco suck?

I guess clickbait videos pay the bills but I will never listen to this guy again.

Yeah I agree, the trucks are pretty identical other than a few little things. I stopped watching when he said the transmission lugs and they are having problems. These trucks drive fantastic, better than my V8 4runner imo and anyone who has driven one of the new trucks can attest to that. Sure there were a handful in the first batch but havent heard anything since early in 24. Not even a recall or TSB so it's werid to bring up the few out of over 200K sold that had issues. Haven't heard a peep about engine issues so that was also weird. Disappointing comming from a guy who used to show hard evidence now just reporting hearsay.

Yeah, I agree. I'm no snowflake - people can like what I buy or hate it, I don't care. I know people who love this guy because of his Toyota mechanic background. So I was super surprised to see a clickbait video from him with mostly just made up bs.

His unfortunate truth video about the Pro was basically dishonest. Like knocking the quality of the trim on what was clearly a pre-production truck or complaining about Toyota including the type of air filter which we have been adding to our trucks for years. People who maintain off road equipment know that those are the best air filters you can buy, even if they suck to clean. So I didn't even watch this video if that is the game he is playing.

To be fair, I really dislike the power tailgate on my pro, I’d rather open and close it myself, and would buy the manual parts if someone else has done the change successfully already

Dude is on YouTube; there's going to be a level of self-promotion no matter how unbiased the guy is.

He reviewed a pre-production Pro, which was bound to have some glitches. He's now had more time to spend on the truck (a week in the TH), he's tracked issues, and he's even compared it to previous generations and other models. I loved the Pro, but the seats were an absolute deal breaker for me, which I suspect is how he feels about them also.

I honestly don't see a problem with the review, even though he and I disagree on some things:

1) The snorkel - I still dislike mine; the sound may be cool the first few times, but after a while, I just want my windows down. He says this truck doesn't have a lot of gimmicks other than the JBL speaker, but to me, this intake is pretty gimmicky. So is the sport rack. Looks cool, but mostly useless
2) The tailgate - he may not like it, but with kids and sports gear, there's nothing better than clicking a button from the comfort of my heated seat while the kids load/unload their crap
3) "Unlike the TRD Pro, there's no Trailhunter lettering everywhere but the maps" - yeah there is: on the doors. He even points it out later.
4) Sunroof. I wish I had one

Sincerely,

A biased TH owner 😄

TacoFreak, well said and you read my mind. I knew his review was going to be severely biased as soon as he pronounced "Trailhunter" like any normal person would vs every time he said "TRD Pro" in his "Unfortunate Truth" video, where he constantly pronounced "TRD Pro" in an arrogant and condescending tone. All of a sudden the lack of paint near the wheel axels (where rust was showing) was only an "I wish Toyota would have painted this" vs the 'this is a sign that Toyota's quality is quickly going downhill' tone in the Pro video. I would have respected this video more if either 1) his gripes would have remained consistent or 2) he would have conceded and admitted he was overly critical of the Pro.

I’ll be honest, I used to watch a lot of his videos until he did the TRD pro video, and him completely changing his words just because it’s the trail hunter now is like a joke to me, like it’s great to have both, some people like one, some people like the other, at the end of the day it’s the same platform, slightly different options, but somehow the pro is the worst choice of all 4th gens lol

I watched one video from someone else who said the Pro was too specialized and that the Trailhunter was the perfect off road truck. Then he proved it by citing the things that made the TH better and every single one of them was something that is exactly the same in both trucks. lol

I picked the Pro but I love the TH, and why the hell one would be perfect and the other trash is hard to understand because they are so similar.

There’s a reason I laughed very loudly to myself when Canada announced the TH was going to be the highest end trim, I wanted the pro, it had the couple extra things I wanted, and no snorkel, some people like them, I do not, got the exact truck I wanted and it was cheaper than I was planning, mind you… I was hoping for 65k cnd boy was I wrong
