Looking for some input that I should have gathered more than I did when I bought my 2025 Sport. Upon purchase, I immediately swapped the OEM tires with KO2s in the stock 265/65/18 size, not giving much consideration that these tires were Load Range E. I have run KO2s on my previous Tundra and F150, so when I looked up the tire options on TireRack, I saw these KO2s and didn’t consider the E rating.

Anyhow, it’s been almost 2 months and 1500 miles and the ride on these tires is too stiff for my liking. My mpg, while not a critical factor for me in a truck, is also much less than expected. I am thinking that my best bet is to swap the KO2s for an SL rated tire while I can still recoup a little of what I spent on the KO2s. I do not tow or carry heavy payloads, I honestly just love the look of the KO2 and have always had good luck with the tires in terms of performance.

At this point, I am leaning towards the Falken Wildpeak AT4W in the same size and SL rating. I would like an off-road style tire for looks and performance (snow, very light off-road applications). I have read good things about the Falkens and Toyos.

Looking for some feedback for stock sizes or close to stock. I do not want to cut or trim. Thanks in advance!

And, if anyone is interested, there will be a fresh set of KO2s available for sale for a good price in the near future. Chester county, PA

I have used both brands of tires on my Tacos. 17 inch stock Toyo open country on my 2006 and 2013 Sports and stock 18 inch Falkens on my 2024 Sport. I find them both to be excellent tires particularly in the snow ( very minimal 4 wheeling). I also find that the Falcons seem to ride a bit stiffer than the Toyos. I can’t speak for the longevity of the Falken tires but as for the Toyo tires on my 2013, they were on for 70,000 km and we’re still in great shape when I sold the truck. I have always run 32 to 34 psi in both brands and that has done me well. I installed the Falkens on my 2024 because I had heard and read good things about them and just wanted to try a different tire. just my two cents. Good luck with your choice.

I’m running KO3’s load E on my OR. 265/70/18.

You might consider the stiffness is coming from the shocks. Or at least a significant factor.

The Falkens are a damn heavy tire, they may be even heavier than your KO2s even in SL vs E load. The Toyos are usually lighter, have the aggressive look and perform well, so that may help. Your use case screams something like Nitto Nomads, BFG Trail Terrains, Firestone Destination AT2, Cooper Road and Trail, etc. These are all light duty all terrains that look somewhat aggressive without the huge mpg hit of the heavy E load all terrains. The lighter the tire, the better your mpgs and braking performance tend to be.

Running 275 75 R18 Falken Rubitecks in my 2025 sport. Mpgs definitely took a hit but the look is worth it.

Absolutely. I actually prefer the ride quality of the stock Sport. If it was just the super stiff ride, I think id just deal with feeling the road. But with the performance and gas mileage hit, I feel a little stupid attaching myself to the tires just because I like the way they look. (And I’ll reiterate, I really do love the way they look)

The ride đź’Ż felt stiffer. However I've been running KO2s on my old 2015 sport for 7 years so I'm used to it. I'm getting better gas mileage than my old girl so I feel like I'm winning somewhere. Was averaging about 20 mpgs before the swap. Plus side is the tank is smaller so cheaper to fill

I think you really hit the nail on the head here. Searching for pics of tires on trucks, I stumbled on a post that referenced BFG having a 60 day satisfaction guarantee. Not expecting much, I called BFG support and gave the operator the honest truth, and that the tires were in great shape but just weren’t working out for me. BFG gave me a claim number and I have an appointment at American Tire tomorrow am, BFG will reimburse me if I swap for new tires after they are inspected. The only caveat is that they need to be BFG or Michelin, so now I’m leaning heavy toward the Trail Terrains.

I am open to whatever works, if American Tire were to offer an alternative of buying back the KO2s, I may lean back to Toyos.

i really appreciate everyone’s input. This one was all on me not fully researching the KO2s.

I’ve put about 1000 miles on my KO3’s. They ride fine for my needs though I don’t drive on the freeway much. I’m going to run these E loads til they die. :)

I like my Falken AT4Ws.

Mine are 265/70R18 SL rated - i don't recall the weight but they're reasonable compare to other tires that size.

I dont need E rated on this truck and prefer to keep dimensions and weight not too far from how the truck was designed.

Once again, I really appreciate all of the great advice here.

I went to Americas Tire this am, as directed by BF Goodrich for the potential 60 day warranty, and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Turns out that BFG will take the KO2s back and reimburse for any new tire (or towards if new tire cost more). I am going with the Toyo Open Country AT3 and feel really good about it. They are an SL tire and about 13lbs lighter per tire. I’ll report back tomorrow when I have them swapped onto the Taco.

thanks again all!

Great news, and that weight savings should provide a much improved driving experience. Keep us posted.

Americas Tire swapped out the KO2s for the new Toyo AT3s today. Just an awesome experience. Tires look great and ride noticeably and MUCH less stuff. Cost me $100 or so to install the new shoes.

thanks again to those who chimed in, very much appreciated.
