I found that interview to be off. Can't quite place it but something was off about it. I also thought the GM contradicted himself by saying the Tundras and new Tacomas aren't selling because of higher prices. If that's true why are they are they still marking up these vehicles?
I thought he was asking about past markups on raptors and other halo cars, but I didn’t see the video about markups specifically that he referenced that the dealer said was hard to watch. Seemed to imply at the end that they’d stopped doing ADMs because of it

And definitely don't believe ANYTHING you read on a forum.

The main youtuber I saw with videos like that actually sat down and interviewed the dealership's general manager and asked him why they weren't selling. The guy basically acknowledged it and said he believed it was due to pricing. I've seen stats saying Toyota (and Tacoma) sales were up month over month.. but they were basically selling nothing for awhile while waiting for the 2024's to show up so it seemed like a skewed statistic.
Im not sure what any of this has to do with what I said

That's because what you said was inconsequential, so I was kind of pointing that out while replying to the context of your comment which, if you forgot, was: "I keep seeing youtube influencers posting videos that the 4th gen aren't selling."

Ok, let's see. Useless because...?

He is not pretending every location is the same. He goes out of his way to point out that it is a small town with its own distinct values.

does this guy review anything besides posting weekly complaint videos?
You only listen to input from reviewers? Hopefully only the ones that pay for the cars with their own money so as not to be biased at least? Frankly, I was surprised that the GM did the interview and agreed to the lousy sales point. Originally, I thought the guy was just creeping around waiting for deliveries and trying to say they were just sitting on lots. Clearly, that is not the case here.

Wait, this is outrage porn to you? Why are you getting outraged about Cheyenne Wyoming sales figures? It's just information.

I was thinking the same.

I went to the dealer site. It's in Cheyenne. It's all SR5's and some OR's with a great color choices as long as it's black, grey, white or silver.

1. Useless because there's zero value to the information.

2. "He goes out of his way to say its a small town and isnt pretending every location is the same"

Dude? Did you even read the title, description or watch his videos? They are all about how the Tacoma isnt selling. It doesnt say "the tacoma isnt selling in my city!"

3. Yes, I listen to reviews about the actual vehicle. I dont listen to some dude with his face in the camera crying about things.

4. Something being outrage porn doesnt mean I'm outraged... It means its click bait. You live on Earth in the year 2024 and are pretending not to know what click bait is? Are ALL humans affected by clickbait? No, but it is still clickbait...

5. He is mad he doesn't get invited to events so has gone full blown click bait. Look at his videos years ago compared to now.

You seem alot more upset that someone doesnt like a youtube channel then I am about said youtube channel.

It is a crappy channel. Sorry if that upsets you.

I wouldn't be surprised if the trucks aren't selling well. So many good reasons for them not to sell, many of those already mentioned. Most buyers are going to finance and it's not too bright to finance a 50K vehicle at today's interest rates. Dealers act like short supply, high interest rates, and inflated prices are the buyers problem, and somehow that gives dealers the advantage so they can add ADM and other stupid fees? It's like were living in some alternative reality. Any intelligent buyer will call BS on that and just walk away. All those things are just as disadvantageous for the dealers and they should be begging buyers to take what's on the lot at a discount. That won't happen because there are enough buyers that don't care about blowing their hard-earned money on ADM and dealer add-ons, and people are used to living their whole lives in debt.

Not even being able to order what you want, let alone get it on a lot, also is going to hurt sales. I wasn't willing to spend 50K on a truck close to what I wanted. I could not find a single dealer that would change anything on an already allocated vehicle. I was told color changes were locked, and I heard a range of excuses about why other changes couldn't be made.

Not saying I'm right, but i agree with some early forecasters that few people will bite on the markups and overall high prices, and by year's end dealers will be begging people to buy the trucks. I called dealers in 10 states to get my truck, and laughed in their faces when they tried to gouge me with ADM and dealer extras. Almost all of the dealers I contacted that wouldn't budge, have called me and texted me non-stop since.

My buying experience, although it's just one data point, has been horrible. I visited more than half a dozen dealers and talked to dealers across 10 states. 90% of them acted like they didn't care, take what they have at inflated prices or go away. I had to go through the allocation list here, and haggle with a bunch of dealers in many states for weeks, to get the truck I wanted.. I'm still having to wait months to get the truck and having to drive more than five hours one way to get it. I know there are people in the forum here that have done the same, but I'm sure that's not what the typical buyer wants to deal with.

I went through all of this last year trying to get another truck and I gave up. The only reason I was willing to put in a bit more work this year was because I started the buying process earlier and my current truck has 192K on it. If I hadn't been able to get it done in the first half of this year, I was going to wait still another year.

Anyone that knows anything about sales or service knows that friction is a terrible thing and you do everything possible to eliminate it everywhere you can. Right now there's friction everywhere when it comes to getting a Tacoma, and that's not going to be good for sales. I don't know about the rest of you, but I would have been thrilled to have been able to build and order my tacoma online, order exactly what I wanted and nothing extra, at MSRP day 1, even if I had to wait months. Instead, at 54 years old, this has been far and away the worst buying experience I've ever had for a vehicle.
