Trailer detected glitch?

Just checking to see if its just my truck, or a model wide issue.

When i tow a trailer, it says the normal "trailer detected" followed by an "is the trailer actually there, yes or no" prompt.

After i remove the trailer and park the truck, the next time i start up with no trailer, it says once again "trailer detected" followed by a "trailer not detected now, yes or no" prompt.

Is everyones truck doing this as well?

Did you answer the prompts correctly?

There are tons of threads across the various forums complaining about this. Toyota needs to release new software to fix their bugs.

I think this is temporary fix for our trucks sometimes detecting a trailer that is not really there. Software is never really done and Toyota's needs some updates which are no doubt coming one of these days.

Toyota has a TSB, T-SB-0084-24, Trailer Driving Assist Active Message Displayed Without a Trailer Connected. I had my TRD Sport in to the dealer for 5K checkup and took a copy of the TSB with me. Even though I didn't have the message displayed they updated the BSM software anyway. I'm crossing my fingers that this resolves the issue.

After my 5000 mile service last week the lane/steering assist no longer worked. I also wanted them to look into a vibration issue and the fuel tank issue. They couldn’t do that work for me that day so I scheduled service for my Off-Road today. Over the weekend I pulled a U-Haul trailer to Michigan, dropped the trailer off, deselected the trailer, but it continually detects a trailer. No answer on the other issues yet, but the service manager said there is a TSB for the trailer detection and an alleged fix. Hopefully I’ll know more tomorrow.

Mine works as normal. I shouldve given it more time before i wrote this post. After you disconnect it just prompts you again once it realizes its not there.
