First Taco AND first Turbo. Just watched videos of turbo care (e.g., let oil warm up before driving hard, let engine idle a bit before turning off, etc).

Are these care tips still legit with current tech? Were these tips ever legit? TIA

Toyota says to only idle if driving on highway at high speed . Normally no need to idle after driving . . I have civic turbo . I always leave it idle for 2-3 min . It has almost 129 k mile on it and it still runs like new .. on the other hand one of my friend have same model , same year - he didnt took proper care now his civic is not as smooth .

The turbo is also cooled via coolent, not just oil from what I read. Not sure on this engine but my Audi has a separate electric water pump that cools the turbo even after turning off the motor. I'll know after getting my 24. Should be any day now.
