Was a bit skeptical about the fitment of 33" on 17x8 +15 in the beginning but turned out to be exactly what I was hoping for. The amount of poke is great, if not more.

In terms of clearance, it's very tight but no contact. (Picture shows the closest contact point when turning) But I removed the mud flaps, you know, just to be "safe".

No mods (yet). I'll test a few more setups (+25/+35) in the future. I'd say this gen is way more capable of handling things compared to the last gen. Very excited to have it on the road and explore the wild.

Fast HD Recon 17x8, +20 offset, 95.1 hub, weighing in at 24.8 lbs. Wrapped them in Toyo Open Country R/T tires 285/70r17. No rub at full steering lock or ripping through a very bumpy field by my place. Very happy with the setup so far and looking forward to getting it dirty on some real trails once work settles down next week.

Truck is completely stock, I was thinking of levelling it, but after seeing how it sits with the stock wheels and tires in the bed (which is probably around 250lbs) I intend to keep the suspension stock for the time being. Iā€™m sure it will be very capable off road as is.

Fuel economy took a bit of a hit. I was running around 20.5 mpg combined city/highway, now Iā€™m probably around 17.5. This is with the 6MT.

Wrangler Duratrac RT 285/70r17 tires and Method 314 +25 offset wheels. They are only 7.5" wide though so similar poke to +35 offset and 8.5" wheel.

Method 703 wheels + Toyo Open Country A/T III 285/70/17 tires installed.

Loving the clean and minimalist look of the 703s. Went with the SL rated Open Countries and theyā€™re nice a comfortable for daily driving. They do have a bit of a hum at highway speeds but itā€™s not terrible. Going from 60lb Wildpeaks on my 2nd gen to these is a big difference.

Picked up my Tacoma Sport with premium upgrade, last weekend . Traded in my 2022 Ford Bronco OuterBanks with Soft Top.

This Tacoma is sooooo quiet, comfortable and smooth compared to the Bronco. I helped my son move the other day and drove from Springfield Mo to Blue Springs Mo. 156 miles each way and it was so comfortable. No back aches like I had with the Bronco

So I had put down a deposit back in December and got an allocation in early May with initial build date for last week in May. Then got pushed to June 8th.
On June 13 I got a call from my sales person telling some good news. My Tacoma was being built, but this other one had come in for another person, but they ended up backing out. He gave me the option to take this one.

My truck was to have the sprayed in bed liner, where this had the composite liner. It also had a dash cam. Initially I said no that I would wait, since I didnā€™t need the dash cam and I wanted the sprayed in liner.

The next day he called back and said they could have it sprayed with the Line-X and they would deduct $500 for the dash camšŸ˜Š

I just picked it up from the truck place that did the Line-X spray and it looks fantastic. I also installed the new Husky contour floor mats. Great fit!!

I plan to install next , side steps and backflip cover. Then eventually wheels.

- Ride is less harsh
- No noticeable loss of handling on highway/city
- Slight increase road noise at highway speed.

I think these chrome Limited wheels look good dipped in black.

"Limited" badges easily removed with some heat and 3M adhesive remover. I suspect goo gone would work too.

Lost the snow plow before it gets torn off.

So it took me way longer than Iā€™d hoped to get this truck off the pavement but finally did it this past week. I put over 300 km on gravel and about 15km on some technical OHV trails up a small mountain. Long story short, this truck is a beast in stock form, except for wheels and tires which are Toyo RTs in 285/70R17.

On the trail I aired down to 20 psi and stuck it in 4LO. Which the clutch needs to be pushed in to switch from 4HI to 4LO. 1st gear in 4LO is VERY slow, around 5-6 kph at 2000 rpm. Great for crawling. I didnā€™t have any big boulders to contend with, but had some steep switch backs on loose rocks that required a three point turn and I was very happy with how the three pedals handled it. I thought I might need to try the clutch cancel start feature but didnā€™t need to. Now heading down the mountain 4LO was just as impressive. On super steep sections I barely needed to touch the brakes, the engine held back the truck and didnā€™t feel like it wanted to over speed, great control.

There was one spot where the sway bar disconnect would have come in handy as I had a wheel in the air and had to make a couple extra points on a different hairpin turn. I spun out once on a steep section with loose fist sized rocks, but threw in the rear locker and walked away. A couple 1-1.5ā€™ deep mud holes with locker and no problems.

Back on the gravel highway I played around with tire pressure a bit. There were some decent washboard sections and 25psi at 75-80 kph was VERY comfortable, very impressed with the stock suspension here. I wasnā€™t super comfortable going that fast for an extended period of time with the psi that low so I bumped up to 30 psi and it definitely got a little bumpier but smooth road sections at 100-105 kph couldā€™ve been done all day if it wasnā€™t for the 80 speed limit.

So the highlights for me were the suspension on washboard and the control of 1st gear 4LO for crawling situations, up or down. I havenā€™t owned a Tacoma before, but this is a seriously capable truck, even in stock form. That said, it still probably wonā€™t stop me from shopping for a small lift and a sway bar disconnect if/when they become available.
