With the LC and GH both estimating 27MPG, I know if has been discussed some on a couple of threads but starting to see a few videos popping up about it and thought I would share one.

It will be like the Tundra and F150 with twin turbo hybrids. Will get good fuel economy at 65 mph but will drop anything over 70 mph. And will get city mpg. I’d venture to say the 4wd crew cab trucks will 22 city, 27 highway and 24 average.

Interesting. I'm really interested in what towing will do with the MPG's. I have a smallish popup, and on my 4 cylinder rav4 prime, when towing my MPG drops significantly. With V6 and V8's as tow vehicles with my camper the MPG's don't drop that signicantly. So, wondering what towing will do with this hybrid max vehicles MPG.

I imagine F/E will drop by 40% when towing over 1500 lbs. My 23 Tundra, as well as my buddy’s F150 ecoboost, both drop by 30-50% when towing highway speeds.

I am happy with my Tundra Fuel economy. I can get 19-20 highway at plus 70 mph and 16 around town. The only negative on the redesign is a piece of plastic on the seat that has broken due to poor design and the A/C operation is a little odd.

Yeah I have seen a couple of video's talking about that peice on the seat. I suppose it's covered under warranty until your warranty coverage is out?

Warranty will cover mine but I’m waiting on a redesigned part to be made and shipped. December ETA.

A mild hybrid system like this is most effective while accelerating up to 40-50 mph. For that reason they usually have a good impact in city type driving (4-6 mpg advantage) and less so for highway driving where you accelerate once (or have light throttle tip-ins). In a highway environment I would expect an advantage in the range of 1-2 mpg (unless you are in bumper-to-bumper traffic of course). So if the 2.4 T4 is able to achieve 19 city and 23 highway (a total guess) on its own then the hybrid version should be able to achieve 24/24.

In order to move the mpg above that type of assistance, we are talking about a hybrid system where there is enough battery capacity to provide constant additive hp/tq. At 1.87-kWh I don't see the 48 horse power available from the electric motor making any type of cruise contribution. With 1.87-kWh we are measuring available power in seconds (maybe 20-30 at a time) and not minutes. I hope I'm wrong.

Toyota removed the 27mpg from the LC information, we’ll have to wait to see the real MPG

CD magazine got 28 MPG with a Toyota Crown with the same hybrid system. It is undoubtably lighter and more aerodynamic than the new Tacoma. My guess is 24mpg.
