I got the standard gasoline motor solely due to price. The hybrid also wasn't available yet when I bought my truck but still due to the price I would have chosen the gasoline engine either way.
mine also took about 3500 miles to settle down and I guess learn my driving habits. At first I was convinced something was wrong with my transmission but all is good now.
this seems to be the symptom of all the bad transmission. Truck gets stuck in 6th gear and won't let you shift below that. I haven't seen it being only an intermittent problem though
doing small sections like that is pretty easy. Get quality film like 3M. Get a spray bottle with soapy water and soak your hands and the film before applying(use way more water than you think, this lets you slide the film once its on the car). Don't worry if you don't get all the bubbles out...
Does anyone know the actual cause of the transmission failures? It seems like they all have the same symptoms which appear to be rough shifts followed by the truck being stuck in 6th gear. People can shift between 6-8th gear but not below.
2wd TRD Sport on 265/70/17 Wildpeaks and I've averaged 21.6mpg over the last 6k miles. I do 70/30 highway/city driving. Its basically the same mpgs I've gotten from my 2nd and 3rd gens.
These seem to be the reoccurring transmission symptoms. You are unable to shift below 6th gear, toyota finds metal in your oil pan and you get a new transmission. Hope it all works out for you OP. Definitely reach out to toyota corporate, they have always been reasonable and fair when I reached...
for what its worth, when my truck was new I used to experience rough shifts from 2-3. Took like 3000 miles before everything smoothed out. I guess it was just the computer learning?
I'm at 5500 miles, I've already done the first oil change and rotated my tires. There is nothing wrong with my truck. I really don't have the time to sit at the dealer for 3 hours while they just rotate tires. I'm planning on taking it in for the 10k service to get another oil change.
This is...
