I wouldn’t say I have rough shifts but it’s definitely a little jerky at low speeds. Driving in stop and go traffic kind of sucks because the gears are so short and by the time you’re doing 20mph you’re already in 4th gear.
Yea there was one other Tacoma at my dealer for the same problem. When they drained my oil it was burnt and had “excessive” metal. The noise is still there but 90% better.
on the 3rd gen Toyota said it was a harmonic issue and nothing mechanical. I don’t know, maybe there is something to it...
Here are some 265s thrown in with all the 285s which seem to be the popular choice for the 4th gen. I’m not a fan of poke so I tried 17x8 +25 method 316s. The wildpeaks are pretty thick, I think with something like KO2s it would be flush.
between 70-75mph while you’re lightly on the throttle? And then it stops as soon as you let off the gas?
if so that’s the differential howl. Mine is currently at the dealer getting a new differential
surprisingly dealer said they could have one in 3-4 days. I dropped it off last Thursday so we'll see.
My symptom was a whine/howl between 70-75mph while I was lightly on the throttle. As soon as I let off the gas or got out of that speed range the noise stopped. I have the auto trans but I...
yea no way ill make it to 2500 miles having to listen to this. Video doesn't do it justice. I can turn the radio volume all the way up and still hear it. Ive had two separate people riding in the truck asking me what the noise is.
Looks like Toyota did not fix the infamous diff howl that plagued a lot of 3rd gens. Except now instead of doing it around 55mph it seems to be at 70-75mph when lightly on the throttle. As soon as I lift off the gas it stops. I found one other owner with a 24 TRD Sport who had the exact same...
Would +25 still have too much poke? I have Fallen Wildpeak AT 4W tires. Ideally I want very minimum poke. Im looking at Method Wheel 316 17x8 with +25 offset or the 703 with 35 offset but it’s 17x8.5. Offset calculator says the 316 will be 3.7mm further out. 4mm seems pretty negligible but I’m...
