I would be curious for those who have removed stock tires what your MPG is looking like.

I have 285/70/17 on now and saw a pretty good dip down from the low 20s, sitting highway around 17 and city 14/15 mpg. Didnt expect much given the change, but just wonder how drastic of a difference other folks saw.

Moving to 285s dropped me about 2 MPG. Getting about 17 now

After driving 1100 miles, mostly driving around town with a little bit of short highway driving here and there, I’m averaging 22.4 mpg in my 2wd TRD Sport.

Here are my numbers through my first 3300 miles. This is all driving lightly\modest in California traffic as you can see my my average MPH.
Average miles driven per tank: 298 miles
Average range left at time of fill up: 11 miles
Average Speed: 31mph
Average number of hours driven on tank: 9 hours
Average MPG as reported by dash: 20.1
Average MPG (calculated): 20.16
Average gallons used: 14.79
Average cost to fill up (California Prices): $70.12
Max range: 325 miles @37.97mph average
Minx range: 290 miles @30.72mph average
Min Range Left: -2 miles having driven 314 miles @34mph
I am guessing the MPG sweet spot is somewhere over 40mph.

There's been some MPG talk in this thread, but can the other 2024 Tacoma owners report here what kind of MPG you're getting?

I know everyone's still in the first few weeks of owning the truck, but curious if you're all seeing above or below EPA rating so far.
was 16.5-17 average, I’m now 14.5-15 average after lift and tires. Eco mode sucks, I generally leave it in normal or sport.

I have a double cab SR5 4x4 with all terrains that are larger than stock: Firestone Destination A/T 2 in 255/75r17 or 32.1 in diameter (stock was 30.5 and the TRD off road comes with 31.6).
My ODO now reads about 3% low now, so truck gets slightly better mpg than what the ecometer says.

I'm getting right about 21 average so far with 50/50 city/hwy (only about 800 miles on these tires). At a true 70 mph I get about 23-24mph and at 60-65 mph 26+ is possible. (speedo had shown about 3-4% lower than true speed with stock tires, reads almost exact with current tires)

At 85mph, I'm getting 17.5mpg

At 75mph, I'm getting around 20.3mpg

These are both in eco mode.
I believe ECO mode is primarily for stop and go driving. It puts limits on the turbo to use less gas.

To me the mpg concerns boil down to cost/efficiency and perhaps environmental responsibilities for some . The way I see it there’s too many variables involved in simple anecdotal reporting.

I.e. stock SR5 245/70r17 is a different baseline than OR 265/70r17 + drive style + terrain + rotational weight differences + static weight differences, etc.

It seems to me things are best generalized as what max cost/efficiency tradeoff % are you comfortable with. The changes in these as a percentage are much more realistic and reveal the minimal impacts, or perhaps drastic increases.

What percentage of EPA estimates, or baseline, can you stomach and generalize your costs accordingly by your consumption?

If your estimated, or measured baseline, combined is 20 mpg and you average 15k miles a year at say….$4/gal you’re at 750 gal/yr and $3k/yr.

If you take a 20% loss with upgrades (tire size and width and/or static weight) you’re at 937.5gal/yr or $3.75k/yr.

937.5 - 750 = 187.5. 187.5/14 (average gal/refuel) = 13.4 more refuels/yr.

Double check me, but it seems that as a generalization 285s from any baseline is less than or equal to this 20% loss example.

I just rented a TRD Off-Road (5-foot bed) for four days to drive up to Virginia (from Atlanta). I put over 1000 miles on the truck. In Eco mode, I was able to achieve ~25 MPG at 65 MPH, and ~22 MPG at 80 MPH.

I usually average 20-21mpg with 70% highway 30% city driving. I have 265/70/17 Wildpeaks

About the same as my 2.7 2nd gen and my V6 3rd gen

TRD Off-Road with stock BFG tires, have averaged 19.9mpg through first 5K. 2.5K of that was a road trip to AZ at 80+mph. I was getting 20+mpg during the break-in period (to the extent that I was able to adhere to those limits).

Switching to Wildpeak A/T4s this week, will be curious to see the difference.

My best mileage coming home from work, i can't beat it, I've been trying. No, I do not speed, I go the speed limit, I have no where to go in a hurry. I drive about 50% interstate and 50% town during my daily commute.
