I feel that I bought my 2023 at just the right time. From what I am seeing now, they are not discounting any of the 3rd gens at near the discount I got 2 months ago. Perhaps they feel they don't need to now with all the uncertainty with the 4th gen availability. Any others seeing this?

What discount did you get? I’m seeing around 3g off msrp here in NorCal
List on mine was 47,870 with no dealer added stuff, all factory, discounted to 43,400.

I’m tempted to find a discounted 3rd gen
I have been happy with it so far. Sometimes I feel like people trash on the 3rd gen because of the 4th gen, but I think it will be a great truck for us. I could not pass up the price, which is why I decided in the end not to wait for the 4th gen. Turns out, the list on the 4th gen Limited with what I would want will be like 54K. I also feel good about having the solid v6 with its great reputation. I also like the simplicity of it. It is nice, but not over the top. All of the tech in the 4th gen makes me wonder how many years it would last.

a 2023 limited and 2024 limited are nothing alike and should not be compared.

the 2023 limited is a chromed out sr5. The 2024 limited has every single feature offered. That’s why it cost so much more.

I got the nightshade edition, so no chrome. At first I wasn't wild about it, but is growing on me.

I waited several months for a 2023 allocation specific to the color and trim I wanted. I got a $500 discount with no forced add ons. I considered holding out for a 2024 but Toyota no longer offers the access cab. (xtra Cab only for 2024 swayed my decision) The suicide doors come in handy on my 2023. I plan to hold on to this truck for a long time. I am bummed out that the SR5 trim no longer has the cubby in the bed. I put my ratcheting straps In there. The best new feature IMO is that Toyota now offers an integrated trailer brake controller for the 2024’s.

Sure, but that wasnt my point.

My point is the old limited is an SR5 and has no where near the same features as the 2024. Its like the 2023 wasnt really a luxury trim while the 2024 is.

Thats why the price is so different. They are the same in name only.

They're probably over on Reddit seeing all the uncalled for trashing and hate the 4th gen is getting 🤣. I don't think they need to rush to sell these 3rd gens (and they know this), given the uncertainty people put off with these 4th gens and the V6 gearheads that don't want to let a underpowered V6 die that should've died years ago, they'll still sell them just fine.

It's going to take a year or two before a fine chunk of people really start trusting the newer gen, and for good reason, they'll have things to iron out, as any new generation usually has.

Me personally, you couldn't bribe me enough to sign the papers on a 3rg gen or lower. They look amazing but the V6 never did impress me, and the interior is far too dated for me to look at (I'm spoiled, I know). Not to mention the MSRP, even with discounts probably won't be too far off from a 4th gen so it even financially makes no sense for me.

It's impossible to get a 3rd gen as is in my city. Chevy posted one for sale and 10 hours later it was sold, so yeah.

Yeah, the trailer brake controller would definitely be a nice feature on the 4th gen

I totally understand that the 4th gen Limited is not the same truck as the 3rd gen limited

Understood that the 3rd gen Limited is not the same truck as the 4th gen. I looked at the sr5 and just could not find one optioned up like the Limited had standard. Plus, I wanted the 18 inch wheels and the Nightshade package, and it may sound crazy, but I had to have the Homelink mirror with the garage door opener. So, the 3rd gen Limited pretty much ticks all the boxes. For me the truck is leaps ahead of the last Toyota PU I owned. In 1989, I bought a new xtra cab 4x4 dx. It was a 4 cylinder and felt like it had no power. It was a 5 speed manual. The V6 in the 3rd gen has loads more power and will do us just fine. We also had a budget and a number we just could not justify which is ultimately why I pulled the trigger on the third gen Limited rather than waiting for the 4th gen Limited which I suspected would be 10k more. Also, I have never had a V6 before so wanted to see what that was like. I'll keep it a couple of years and see how the 4th gen does once folks get some miles on them, give feedback, etc. and then maybe at that point, move to the 4th gen. I am taking an incremental approach I guess :)
