Background of the situation: I was installing the switch for the trailer brake controller and once I put the panels back on, the car would not start. I did not connect any new wires or disconnect any factory wires. However, it does not mean that I did not hit something inadvertently while taking panels off. Right now I am getting the message that makes it appear as if the truck is not recognizing the clutch or the brake. I can take the parking brake off, but it may take several tries as it also seems like it is not recognizing that. I am at a loss...

Well it's still under warranty. Does your insurance company offer road side assistance ? Have em tow it to the dealership and let them fix it. Just my 2¢.

What exactly did you install? OEM trailer brake switch?

The first step is to undo what you did to see if it fixes the problem. Warranty won't cover issues caused by a modification that you did, so it's best that you figure it out before involving the dealership.

Nothing was installed. Only a blank switch removed and the knob put in its place.

Try jump-starting it, I've had to jump-start mine (6SPD as well) twice now, and I've learned having ACC on or even just the accessory lights drains the battery FAST.

You have probably already done this but I would pull the panels again and confirm there are no loose or unconnected wires/harnesses in the areas you were working. I know pulling interior panels can take a little cajoling, just a thought. Good luck!!

How do you get to the ACC position push button ignition ? I'm dying to pop-start the clutch in my Taco 6MT but ii have to have the ACC on to do this.

This is my first car with a push-button ignition, and I've had it for a week. But I believe when you power the vehicle on, screen radio, etc., but the engine is not started, that is the same as ACC mode on a keyed ignition vehicle.

You would think that it would be possible to bump start the truck but you probably need some voltage to get it fired up.

I was able to get it to start with the "no-clutch" start. Hoping this was just a glitch.

Never got that far, put the knob in first.
Gotcha.

If the only thing you did was pop out a switch blank, and then put in the knob but didn't plug it in, it's either one of two situations:

You accidentally knocked something loose or disconnected something. This seems most likely. The clutch pedal has a switch on it to detect when it is pressed in. It's usually on the bracket, right above the pedal pivot.

OR

Something else is going in.

Thinking I knocked something loose. Still can only start with no clutch option and the shifting and rev matching is really bad right now. Time to poke around...
