I second the Retrax Pro. I don't have any of the T slot models but I run 9 Retrax pro model covers on multiple F350 fleet trucks and they are top of the line and the only ones that last. Going on 6 yrs now and 0 issues with Retrax. It will freeze up occasionally but we live and work in upper midwest and daily freeze / thaw cycles daily in the winter. I'm going with the Retrax pro model with T slots on my new Pro if I keep it. I also need to get over the 2k price for this tiny bed. The full size covers were 1300ish 4 yrs ago.....
Thanks for the recommendation. I guess I am still not over the sticker shock of aftermarket products for the Gen 4 Tacoma. I know that good quality items are going to be pricey but I am having to really look at my priority list of mods that I need/want. I am still probably a month away from delivery of my 25 TRD OR due to the stop sale brake issue. The wait is giving me time to form my list and choose wisely. So far my 1st item will be some running boards then a tonneau top. Nice that there are folks like you that have bought products and have posted your experiences on this forum.

I really like the idea of being able to add a bed rack or cross bars...and still have a tonneau cover. Looks like there are a few options out there: BAK Revolver, synetic, retrax...and I think Truxedo has a soft roll, but not currently avail for the new Tacoma. Is the T-slot rail really that usable? Could you mount a rack with a roof top tent on top?? Is weight capacity an issue?

I don't know anything about the racks, like Yakima or whatever - never had one. Do they make them fully adjustable so that I could use the same rack on different sized trucks - either the Taco or my SuperDuty?
Be careful what t-slot cover you choose if you go with the Yakima Overhaul HD. Check on the Yakima website, as they only recommend 3 types of covers work with the tonneau kit they sale.

The revolver cover with T-Slot reportedly do not work without modifications to the rack, from what I have seen. Diamondback covers makes an adapter for there cover as well, just not my style.

I have had the Yakima overhaul HD on a super duty with a Retrax cover, spent 20 consecutive nights on top of it in a RTT, worked really well. The Yakima was also on a Tacoma TRD off road as well with no cover, and looking for options on what I want to do on the TRD Pro.

I say all this because it is a very versatile piece of equipment that can be moved from truck to truck for things I like doing, essentially future proofing it a bit.

I think im going with the Kuat Ibex. I may be misspelling that. One of the guys on this thread has it on a TH and it looks great and price seemed good for how well built it looked. Has anyone found a good clay to mount the spare tire on bed racks?

Thanks for sharing this! Yeah I’m finding that the Revolver cover really is only compatible with the “real truck” elevate rack…which it seems “real truck” has bought up a bunch of brands, idk. So you’re saying you were able to use the same rack on your super duty and taco? This is like exactly what I want to do!

Yep, you’ll have to buy the Taco adapter kit Yakima sales. For the superduty everything is included if go without a cover. If you get one of the 3 covers they recommend you’ll need the adapter kit they sale.

Although I bought the Yakima way before IBEX came out, the ibex one was appealing to me at first, but I don’t think it is as future proof as the Yakima (atleast from what I can tell), as you order it for specific bed lengths. I could be totally wrong with this though, as I only did high level research on it, then moved on to more critical mods I needed.
