I ordered the 18" bronze Trailhunter wheels from Sparksparts way, way back in early October and received them finally about a week ago. As soon as I saw pictures of the Trailhunter, I knew that I wanted those wheels, and when I saw @SonoranSurvivalist's post, that clinched the decision. It was worth the wait! I decided to go with a 275/70 tire (33.2" diameter), and I was a little concerned that they could rub, so I also purchased a 1.25" front spacer lift from Peak Suspension just in case. I figured if they did rub, I could install the spacers and maybe remove the crash bars from the front wheel wells to make a little more room, but only if it was necessary.

Unfortunately, the weather has turned pretty bad, and I plan on uploading some better pictures to show the wheel poke and some different angles. Overall, I couldn't be happier with how these things look on my truck. Just a couple things to note:
  • No lift installed of any kind as of yet, and I don't think it will be needed either. I've driven over speedbumps, pulled into and backed out of my driveway (has a decent slope and a tight turn), and so far, absolutely no rubbing. I figure these tires are about as big as you can fit without any modifications, but I haven't fully flexed the suspension or driven around with clumps of mud stuck to the tires yet. It is VERY tight, though. When the steering is fully locked, the area where the "removable" crash bar inside the front wheel wells looks like the tightest area without less than an inch of space.
  • These wheels do poke, but not nearly as much as I was anticipating. I estimate about an 1/8" of the flat tread sit outside of the fender flares, and the face of the wheels themselves are basically even with the fender flares.
  • I was hoping to use the TPMS from my original wheels in the new ones, but I ended up with aftermarket ones. They work perfectly so far.
  • The lugs and wheel locks from my original wheels worked just fine with the new wheels.
  • The weight of each wheel is approximately 33 lbs and tires are about 59 lbs each. This is significantly heavier than stock, and especially with the manual transmission, noticeable when accelerating. I would bet that the weight wouldn't be as noticeable with the 8 speed automatic, but I'm sure it still has a detrimental impact on performance. I plan on updating this post with more information pertaining to fuel consumption once I've gone through a few tanks and gotten a better idea on average economy (mixed city/hwy/light off-roading). The truck still feels plenty strong though!

The stance looks a lot more aggressive and they fill the wheel wells very nicely. I didn't hate the original OR wheels by any means, but these are just better looking, and it's not even close in my opinion. Thanks for the kind words! If youā€™re thinking about it, just go ahead and do it :wink:. Iā€™m thinking these wheels should start to get a bit easier to get your hands on. The only downside I can think of are the choices in tire selection being a bit more limited being an 18ā€ vs a 17ā€, yet youā€™re still left with a ton of options. I went with the KO3s after seeing them on my buddyā€™s new PreRunner. There are much lighter options available in a C or SL rating from General and a few others in this particular size. The Falkens were actually heavier than these, I think in both E and SL options, plus theyā€™re just slightly taller and will be a tighter fit for sure.

I think the move with Solar Octane is black, but Iā€™d love to see the TH bronze setup on one.
I think these wheels will pop regardless of color, but the Pro wheels with the solar octane would awesome too. Iā€™ve seen a few of these trucks in solar octane around town here and man thatā€™s a cool color!

I think the issue is that neither of the tire shops that I went to was willing to do the swap without me having to drop off my truck (it's my only vehicle, and I was pretty far from home). I'm confident that the factory sensors would work perfectly with these wheels, and these shops saw an easy opportunity to make a bit more cash by selling me the aftermarket ones. On the plus side, I have four perfectly good OEM wheels and tires (with sensors) that I can either keep as backups or throw snow tires on. I could probably fetch a decent price for them if I decided to sell them too. Mr. Tire, the first shop I went to, was giving me the runaround, and I'd taken a few trips to that particular shop because they have one of the newer road-force balance machines (one of the only ones around here it seems). Each time I was told I'd need to reschedule or drop off my truck after having explained to them several times the work that I wanted done. They were also pushing really hard for me to get an alignment, and they got pretty rude with me after pleading for them to use my factory sensors. Some BS about it being a difficult job because they had to dismount my old tires from my old wheels... like, wouldn't you have to do that if I was just getting new tires??? I couldn't understand their reasoning at all, and it felt like an excuse. I wound up calling another shop up the street and they got them mounted up on my truck in under an hour. It ended up costing me a bit more with the purchase of the new sensors, but either way, I really didn't wanna have to go home empty handed again, and the wheels and tires seem to be balanced perfectly so far. The aftermarket TPMS have worked out just fine, so no regrets there. If you have a tire shop in your area that you trust, you know does quality work, and you ask them to swap out your original sensors, it should be no problem for them to do so. Toyota's OEM TPMS sensors are pretty pricey (I think over $100 each). Sorry for the mini rant there LOL.

@yoyotaco kinda far away to do a swap. I bet you could find someone in your area thatā€™d be happy to swap. Iā€™m probably gonna wind up giving the tires to a buddy who needs em, but keeping the wheels to maybe sell.

Here's a couple more pictures showing wheel clearance within the wheel wells. After a few more days with these tires, I'm really digging the feel of them on the road. I haven't had a chance to test them in the mud and dirt, but I'm sure they'll see it soon enough.

Here's the tightest area by a pretty decent margin. When the wheel is cut all the way to the left, there's only about 1/2" of clearance, if that:
