I have those SofTex seats in my RAV4 Prime, they're terrible. Slap whatever label you want on them, they're vinyl seats. My Taco will be ordered as loaded as possible, while still retaining cloth seats.
What is it about the SofTex that you are not liking??

I’m planning to get the premium upgrade that will have them.

what I’m seeing in many of these early allocations is the very light colored cloth. I think those are going to show all kinds of dirt and stains

To each their own. I had the Softex in a Highlander and really liked it. Not as nice of a feel to the hand as real leather, but more durable than real leather. Nothing like the vinyl in my parents car growing up. But also, I usually drive fully dressed, so I can’t verify the “legs and back sticking to seats” test.

Yeah Softex in some situations will suck. My point is everyone is "okay" now with a $52K mid size truck without it being fully loaded? Thats crazy.

I think they'll sell fine. Some people actually like cloth seats (not me) and there are reasons people don't like the ZR2 and Gen3 Tacomas. I looked at the ZR2, and while it has a lot of bang for the buck, it just felt cheap. I still think Toyota will sell every one of these they make.
Im sure Toyota will sell them, just not like the 3rd Gens and definitely not every one of them. They are already sitting on lots and they haven't even ramped up inventory yet.

Too much competition now from everyone with new mid sized trucks, interest rates and higher prices.

Fair enough, I'm probably too annoyed with the SofTex/taking it too personally, lol. You are NOT wrong, I would say I'm going to buy a Canyon AT4 in protest, but it's not much cheaper. Also, I wish the seat fabric was my biggest concern with those.

I think I'm kidding myself saying "wait until they release the hybrid prices, then make your decision". The responsible decision for me would be a 4x2, SR, with mud guards, and an AM radio. I guess I'm waiting to see how irresponsible I'll get, lol.
all good points, I think alot of people are waiting for the Hybrid too see the reviews, benefits and cost factors. I'm waiting on a PRO myself, but if its like $65-$70K, then maybe looking elsewhere or downgrading.

i wouldn't buy a ZR2 or Canyon but I would look at 3rd gen PRO. More then enough truck for what people want versus need.

End of the day, its your money, spend it how you want. LOL.

It seems like the TRD Sports upgrade package comes with heated seats even though its not listed on the package in the configurator or the window sticker.

No way the Colorado is up to Toyota standards. Check resale value in a few years and you’ll agree.
